Yep toolbox is a much better investment than a ring in my experience too. Especially since I didn't even get to keep the ring and it left with about 75% of my net worth !!

I don't really see that as funny. That poor ******* probably found his fiance bouncing on top of a 12" shlong after coming home from work early one day.

Definitely a good rule of thumb to never spend/waste a ton of money on a ring though. My personal opinion on that is, if a woman ******* because her ring didn't cost enough then I don't have any business being with her materialistic *** in the first place.

$2300 for 1.5 carats? I hope that's the total weight for the solitaire plus the little ones! If not, it must be a pretty crappy stone!
I'm betting she said no.

I've got one right now that I should probably look into selling. I got it back from the first wife after we got divorced. I think I paid about $1400 for it 14 years ago...

Used rings are like used beer bottles, only worth the raw material. I agree with American Lockpicker, he'll only get pennies on the dollar for it.

Unless you give it on Christmas, birthday or holiday. Then it is a gift and she does not have to give it back by law. Otherwise, the ring is a "contract" with an expectation of marriage. If that falls through, she must give it back like you said.

1 1/12 total carrat weight. Depending on the color and clairity of the largest stone would really say what it's worth. The largest stone is probably 1/2 carrat or less. It would probably only bring more in gold weight. It's rare to get a excellant stone under 1 carrat. He will do good to trade it for a craftsman used top box
