Who makes the longest 3/8" ratchet that is not junk?

I see Matco has a 15" fixed head
SnapOn has a 13-11/16 flex head which I have, but I would like a 18" flex head like the one by Kobalt.

Just got a SO TLL72 1/4" and love it

Proto used to make a 10" in 3/8 drive. The best they have these days appears to be 8-1/2"

Not true. Proto has a premium pear head ratchet measuring 11 inches that is quite sturdy.

If you want a really long 3/8 flex head. Consider the ones by EZ Red or Titan. Now they are imported as the Kobalt you mentioned.

I don't who makes the longest, but in my opinion, Armstrong makes the best value in a long 3/8" drive ratchet.

awesome ratchet. i ahve the 3/8 and 1/4 versions and they really are that good. i agree they gotta be the best value ratchet out there. just a notch below snapon/matco ratchets but at half the price. and really if you give the ratchet the matco 88 tooth rebuild kit(which you can do) you have the same thing as the matco 88 tooth locking flex head for 20-30 bucks cheaper. and youd still have the stock guts as a backup incase you broke the rebuild guts so you wouldnt be out a ratchet while you wait for a new rebuild kit.

I have the 15" Matco, it's my go-to fixed head 3/8" ratchet. I've put an extra few inches of cheater on it a few times in really tight spots, and it took it, but I wouldn't want to go much longer than that. That skinny little handle gets some pretty good flex in it.

I found a guy selling it and the 8" 1/4" ratchet (another favorite) on fleabay for like $100, and I'd buy them again any day. :D

SK has some just under 11"... but they're not fine tooth. Good ratchets tho.

That said, that Armstrong that toolguyd reviewed looks interesting.

Are the EZRed ratchets good? Will it hold up to daily use, I know the Kobalt wont, I know someone that has one and he breaks it on a fairly regular basis.

I have heard good things about Armstrong. Looks like they have an 11-1/2" ratchet. May get one one day, but wanting something longer right now.

I am considering the 15" Matco. That 1/4" SO ratchet I just got is 9" long and it is awesome, wish SO had a longer 3/8.

Don't consider just get it. It's fantastic:thumbup:

When I bought them, I mostly wanted the 1/4" one, I'm thinking to myself "WTF do you need a 15" long 3/8" ratchet for? That's stupid."

Man, was I wrong. I love the extra control you have with a longer ratchet, being able to smoothly apply lots of torque rather than having to yank, slip, and bust yourself up.

I believe you got the longest ratchet already... that's not junk lol

I think you're right. Thats why I am just considering the Matco 15", and hoping SO follows the TLL72 with and extra long 3/8 of some kind.

When I first started turning wrenches for a living all I had was a Matco dealer. And there ratchets just didnt hold up like SO ratchets, but then no ratchets I have owned hold up like SO ratchets.

I love that 15" matco ratchet, its great for places 1/2" doesn't fit. its not my go to because its not a flex, but it is defintly my second choice.

I have a SK 10" and the Armstrong that others have posted. Love them both, but I do find myself using the SK a little more. I know it's not a fine tooth ratchet, but after adding some 80w gear oil it runs smooth. I do like the locking flex of the Armstrong, as well as the handle it's self. For me both are great, but it's also all I'm willing to spend on a ratchet.

My only complaint about the SK, is that it came bone dry. Was not oiled at all. Is this common?

I have the flex head Kobalt and it works great. If you need USA I also have the Snap On FLHF80. The Snap On os definitley nicer but for the price the Kobalt is a great ratchet. I own a few Kobalt ratchets and have a complete Kobalt socket set and they are great tools for the money. Even better when the go on sale for cheap. Lowes has all kinds of good deals right now so check it out. I dont think I ever paid full price for any Kobalt tool, In fact it is usually somewhere near 50% off. Check the site from time to time and you will find a good deal
