I have this vintage Craftsman tool box, any idea of value? Has been repainted. Should it be restored or just leave alone. Thank you in advance.

Nice tool box. I would leave it as it is (other than giving it a cleanup) if it works well - drawer glides and casters.

If it works don't fix it. ( clean and oil ) It should look it's age in my opinion. Appears to be in original condition. Nice piece.
Value ? What someone is willing to pay.

That’s a pre-war box. While not rare, it’s not common to find either. If you plan on reselling it, I’d suggest leaving it alone. Actually restoring a box like that is a huge task if done correctly. As a collector, I would much rather pick up a box “as is” instead of dealing with somebody else’s version of a restoration. If you do perform an in-depth restoration of it, you’ll never get your time or money properly compensated.

I would fix it up but don't expect to make any big money! Awesome box!

I wish you were in the Pacific Northwest. I would offer to buy it. Like others have said it’s been repainted. Original color was dark blue wrinkle finish.

I realized I'm late to reply but in my opinion it has clearly been repainted at as evidenced by painted over handles (original likely chrome plated) and red paint on edge of Craftsman logo.

You have a very nice cabinet and it deserves to be restored to its original condition.
