Long handle metric wrenches?

I would like to find long combination metric wrenches in 10 and 12mm sizes.

What I have found is either 1" longer (not helpful) than a standard combination wrench (HF or some online stuff), or it's a Snap On and each wrench is $50. When I say 'longer', I mean the wrench is 12-14" long so you can get serious leverage.

Does anyone make very long (not just kinda-long) combination metric wrenches that aren't gold-plated in price?

thanks - Steve

This is where you shop around and flip through some catalogs for long pattern wrenches. I know for sure that the Dewalt and Proto long pattern wrenches are fairly long.

Toptul do a whole set for 50 bucks lol (jmtoolco.com).
Toptul is extra long but they only around 8 to 9" for 10mm and 12mm sizes .
Snap-on oexlm extra long combi be about same lengths as the toptul extra long set.
MAC extra long in 10mm was about 1/2" longer than the snapon .
Hazet 600LG would be about 8.5" and 9" for 10mm 12mm sizes and possibly around 15 to 20bucks each .
Would aviation long box end wrenches work for you as they good 2 to 4 " longer again .

Harbor Freight as mentioned. Also Channelock brand has combination wrenches that are longer (but not quite as long as the Pittsburg if I remember correctly). My local Do-It -Best hardware store carries them individually. Made in Taiwan but nicer than the Pittsburg.

Does it have to be a combination wrench?

I think the reason that nobody makes a really long combination wrench is that the open ends will slip if you apply the maximum torque possible.

The Hazet 600LG mentioned by dutchgray is about the longest made I reckon. 230mm is a long wrench for just 12mm. I don’t think even Snap On offer anything longer (not as a combination wrench).

Why not get a long box end wrench?

Many choices, but Nepros offer exactly the sizes you need, in one wrench, and it’s about 12” long.

Price is within budget too!

I went though this same kind of search a short time ago. Something reasonable priced but genuinely LONG wrenches--when you dig up the true dimensions for what most call "long" wrenches, they aren't, not really. Longest ones I found new at the price point was Urrea, ordered through Home Depot. I've been pleased with them, true long pattern.

I have a set of DeWalt long combos, as my SK and craftsman were like stubby wrenches at 10mm. They are ok, but after a few years they show some rust. I just bought a set of extra long Carlyle double box end wrenches and the 10-12mm is huge,

I‘d consider the suggestion of buying one of the extra long dbe wrenches in 10-12 and seeing if that fits your needs.

It's relatively easy to find extra-long double box end wrenches (which I believe most people go to for extra leverage), but more difficult to find in combination wrenches. I suspect Dave455 may be correct in that there are limitations to applying excessive torque on an open end (post #7). The URREA 10mm 1210ML x-tra long combo is 8" and the 12mm 1212ML is 8-7/8", both which are very long for combination wrenches compared to other offerings. Even the Snap-ons are shorter than this at about 7-5/16" and 8-9/16" respectively, where the MACs are also shorter than the URREA at 7-13/16" and 8-5/8" respectively. But if you're truly looking for 12" to 14" lengths, you'll probably have to go with some form of double box end style as others are recommending. Or break out the welder....

Current price is $85 for the TOPTUL, which actually is very fair. Don't forget Denny's TOPTUL Give Away Center is out of that business Mr. B.

If you go to asia Toptul can be Denny cheap. again . UK got some lowish prices still too .
Lucky I filled my boots early on :)
85 bucks not bad but 50 to 60 the sweet spot and I have a memory that you may of done them 40-45 very early on but that just might of been an adult tool fetish dream , shame they didn't do same extra long length in the Super-Torque design wrench and similar size coverage too .

Thanks for all the excellent links and great quality replies.

I agree that open-end may not be available, and a double-box end (especially with different end sizes) would do the trick.

I've got these. They're fantastic as far as I'm concerned. While mine are branded "Maximum" from Canadian Tire, they're pretty obviously of Apex (Gearwrench) origin. Gearwrench sells the same thing in a slightly different configuration.

I think my set was around $120 Canadian (Canadian Tire has very regular and predictable "sales" where regular tool prices are marked 60-80% off). There's a flex-head version too.

Ratcheting on one end helps make such a long wrench more useful - otherwise turning fasteners can be very slow with such a long handle if you don't need the leverage. The non-ratcheting box end protrudes a bit on one side a bit like a socket, which is also very nice.

I got the long pattern Chinese Gear wrench brand combination wrenches. I appreciate the open ends but the box ends of gear wrench are beyond hideous. So stay away from gear wrench non- ratcheting wrenches.

Amazon sells long box wrenches in a case (performance style). Made in Chiwandia. I paid $47.00 for a set of metrics. Can't advise on durability though.

I have the long wrenches like Dave455 and Vicks show from Snap-on, but my ratcheting version of them is from Icon. They are both great.
