Long Handle Wrench Suggestions

Does anyone have any suggestions for a long handled wrench set (either box end or combination)? We're talking fairly long-handled here, like the old Cornwell wrenches, not some of the newer ones I have seen that are maybe just two inches longer. I'm trying to keep it under $100 but I think that is wishful thinking. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Techniker

I've have a set of HF long combos in both Metric and SAE and while not as agile as Snap-on they certainly are cheap. Both sets have held up well for me even when used with cheater bars (probably not recommended).

I actually have the HF long combination wrenches which I like. However, I'm actually looking for something even longer. I wish I could find the Cornwell ones I am talking about as an example. The more I consider it, the more I think I just want a long box end wrench set.

Maybe some used gearwrench gearbox wrenches..? They're pretty long, have a fixed box end and a ratcheting end on the other side. I've been using daily for the past couple years and there holding up great.

Also, depending on how "quality" of a tool you require you may want to look into V8 Tools. They have a long double box set thats fairly cheap. Their chrome kinda ***** but they seem pretty strong for the price.

No warranty if purchaced though Cripe

Really? I didn't think receipts were required for warranty for Gearwrench. That's concerning.

I saw those and they look perfect, unfortunately I need them in metric and I did not see any carried that were.

:lol_hitti at the $100. Definitely true. But you have to understand where I am coming from; I only work one day a week or the entire time we have a break, so $100 as a percentage of my total working income is a lot higher to me than most technicians.

The Craftsman ones are tempting, even though I wish they were longer. They also look like they are 12 point, which I am less than fond of, but they still look pretty nice. I need to expand my wrench collection, so I think I may get them anyway just for that reason.

I really like the Toptul. Any ballpark price figures on them?

As far as combos go, I don't think they get any longer than these Toptuls.........

Mike should have the 10 pc sets for $55. I have a large set of their long combos. And I couldn't be more happy with them.

$55 after GJ discount. probably $10 shipping. Give him a call.

I would imagine that it will be pretty hard to find long wrenches in 6 point. Especially under $100. 12 point wrenches have come a long way from what they used to be. I never use 6pt wrenches. Double the access out weighs the possibility of rounding.

Completely missed the price. That's a heck of a deal. I'm in for them.

and in case you can't make contact with wren, i'll bump http://thetoolchest.ca/ - i've gotten all my toptul stuff from them and they also offer a GJ discount. i believe its $10 shipping for essentially anything (they are in canadia). i know i paid slightly more than $55+10, but not a lot more, and they were a pleasure to deal with.

i really like their swivel-head ratchets too :) they didn't have them singly, but a metal-boxed set that included 1/4+3/8+1/2 + a couple of spark plug sockets. of the SO/Gearwrench/Pburgh Pro swivels that i own, the toptuls are the ones i like the best.

I have a 'Signet' brand zero-offset 13mm x 15mm 12pt ring wrench (bought new, very recently), which 365mm long. (It's much the same style and shape as the Snap-on ones linked to above but considerably longer - although I don't think SO do exactly that pair of sizes on one wrench).
The packaging. at least, is marked "USA" and it's quite well finished and seems to be a decent wrench, but it's stamped 'chrom molybdenum' which looks a slightly odd spelling for the US. I wouldn't mind a few more though.
Does anyone know anything more about the 'Signet' brand?

I have no idea, but I looked it up. Ran into this website............

They look like a European Gearwrench line. I believe the "vortex" sockets are a GW trademark.

Yep, I just purchased a set of the long ratcheting flex-head wrenches. Long, ratcheting, nice chrome, flex head, easy warranty...they have everything you could want.

I had the HF. Nice finish, but they had a crummy fit and one bent under normal use. They also had odd sizing with a 26mm, but no 16/18mm wrenches.
