Can they be that bad? would they break under lets say 100 inch pounds of torque? We work where there are chances where you might loose your tools and i was thinking of getting the harbor freight set as back up?

I know some that use them and have not had any problems. I even took a look and was impressed with how far along them have come. Aside from the name and stamping, you'd be hard pressed to tell there is a difference. Even the new Sears Evolve line looks pretty darn good. If you can get beyond the fact that they're made overseas, I think they're a worthy contender. What have you got to lose?

100 in pounds is only ~8 ft lbs. Of course it will handle that! If you meant 100 ft lbs, you wouldn't be able to put that much force on it. I doubt it would break under normal proper use.

A guy i work with just got them, they are extra long compaired to any long patterned wrench i have seen. They feel much better than the raised panels. But when it comes down to the basics every good tool set out there should have a good quality wrench set.

100 ft lbs is not that much for an extra long wrench. It should be able to handle that easily if it's worth anything.

you wont be dissapointed i have the metric set and they are very nice especially for the price im going to get the sae set next they get more use than my raised panel craftsmans now and they are holding up nicely

I have the HF in metric and SAE, paid about $18 on sale, and they have worked VERY well for me. The chrome finish is heavy, no issue with it, but the metal under it isn't smooth or perfectly flat, and on such a long wrench it does look a bit sloppy. But the fit on a nut seems right on, and in practice they are a pleasure to use.

I bought the SAE first to do some plumbing work under my sink, and the extra long wrenches were about the only reason I got the job done. Double the torque when I needed it breaking loose old fittings, and much more control when normal torque was needed. I bought the metrics the next day and use them all the time as a counter holding wrench at way more than 100 ftlbs of torque.
