I have that 8 piece long SO instinct set to go along with my regular instinct set.

I've had the long set for a few months now and I only use the 2nd longest and 3rd longest flat blade screw drivers and maybe the longest Phillips but I guess I had to have to whole set.

Nah. Get a bit holder socket and just use an extension if you ever need it. Not something you'll encounter in my opinion.

I used to appreciate a long straight-blade screwdriver for loosening (sometimes) and tightening lower radiator hose clamps from the top side. I can see using an extension and bit/socket for that instead.

I had a smaller version for idle mixture screws on certain carbs. No way would the extra bulk of the socket work out.

I bought a similar long Phillips driver, and I can't think of anything I ever used it for.

There a lot of things that aren't needed often that you will need five, ten times before you will use these. A friend is head tech at his shop and has a snap on set. He's had them over a year and still has the cellophane on the package.

I just have a couple of extra long cheap screwdrivers. I haven't needed them enough to warrant buying expensive ones. I think mine are Performance Tool brand.

What are you working on? The last time I need a 24" snappy #2 Phillips was over 15 years ago tuning/syncing jap motorcycle carbs. One is a good send in that application. No need however in any car, farm tractor, helicopters or large cat equipment in the last 15 years.

Now I really wish I had some hose clamp pliers with the long cable/remote handle.

I use long Pozi No2 alot at work in construction, but at home tinkering there is not often the need or the room, Wera makes some drivers that seem to be easily available here.

I've got some long TOPTUL ones up on EBay. Straight blade and Phillips #2 300 and 400 mm blade length. That's pretty long.

I have a few long, like 24", screwdrivers, straight and Phillips, that I picked up used for dirt cheap or free that have been hanging on the side of my box for years waiting for that special need. Can't ever remember using them though, glad I didn't spend any real money on them.

Can't beat Proto, IMHO, I have a MAC set that I can measure and photo once I get home. They have served me well.

I have the SK 86008 20" long set. I don't use them much and could probably get by without them, but in certain situations they make life much easier.

One example is tightening the clamp on the dryer vent pipe. Instead of having to lean over the back of the dryer like a contortionist I can just lines things up and reach my arm comfortably behind to tighten.

I could have used one of these a bit ago for installing a friends TV on a very low profile wall mount. We used a 1/4 screwdriver bit, attached to a 1/4" socket, attached to a 6" socket extension, attached to a 18" socket extension.

It got the job done at least.

Craftsman Pro used to offer some really nice long drivers. I haven't seen them at the store in ages though. I rarely use mine and am kind of glad I didn't spend a lot of $$$ on a truck brand set.

Like everyone else needing something that's extra long is pretty darn rare. But these four units from Gearwrench fit the bill very nicely and DON'T kill the bank. $15.00 for 4.

Bought a 20 inch craftsman pro with points recently. You wouldn't believe the size box it came in. Worth the five bucks for the laugh!
