I've been a member here since 2014 and I've never made a post so I guess there's no time like the present. I'm not new to the forum thing, I was a member on quite a few automotive forums but haven't been an active participant since college (never enough free time!).

My wife and I (along with our 1 month old daughter) are finally getting settled into our "forever home". I'm 27yrs old and this is house #3, moving is exhausting and I'm tired of making houses into homes and then moving. Luckily we're now on the side of town we like in the kind of home we've been looking for, a 2400sqft 1950's 4 sided brick ranch which is harder to find than you would think in rural GA. The downside is that in addition to being a total fixer upper it's lacking something important; a garage! For a car guy like myself that's a major problem. My friends and family see me as being super picky about things and a bit of a perfectionist so it's pretty humbling to see the level at which some of y'all operate. It makes me look like a total novice but we all start somewhere.

SO I'm finally building my "dream garage". I'm working with a much lower budget than a lot of guys on here so I really enjoy seeing how everyone gets creative with using older/recycled parts and materials. Also getting a good workflow with minimal space. I'll save all the details for an actual garage build thread but I'm going to be starting off by getting a 30x40 metal building with fully free spanned trusses to create a second story. The garage will be for toy storage and metalworking, though at first it will be a catchall for everything so I can get rid of 2 full size storage units with tools and motorcycles and stop wasting money. Phase 2 will add a 15x20 shop elsewhere on the property exclusively for woodworking. I'll probably do a carport for the Daily Drivers that will eventually get closed into an attached garage so we don't get wet bringing in groceries. Old cars and tools are my thing though so hopefully I fit in!
