Been around but not real active in the community... times are a changin.... I'm selling the house and moving into the shop. It's a 4 bay with attached live in studio... basically heaven for me or any single gearhead right, but still could be twice as big.

Anywho, I want to hear, and hopefully find some mentors, what everyone who has any info on turning my hobby/passion into a small business. Mainly offroad stuff but i got into some protouring a bit too in the past few years.

Should i start it's own thread for these suggestions?

Keep in mind this is small scale, i know i ain't going to open up doors and have projects lining up making $100k cars, but I do have product ideas and plenty of my own projects with a plan to basically build one then sell it, then move to next one.

All ears, and thanks for any useful info y'all throw my way.

I plan on getting a salvagers license to be able to find totaled out newer vehicles for the powertrains and concentrating on fabrication. Rollcages, bumpers, suspension, rockers, etc... I have most of the tools as I've built my jeeps since I was 12.

I really only could use a 2 post lift, and tire machines. A press brake capable of at least 1/4" would be nice but they are $$$$!

Offroad restomods is what I'd be aiming to be doing mostly. Plus there's no "fabrication" shops around my area. So the local yocals with the catalog order bolt on shops could be a source of references for anyone needing something "built not bought"...????

Welcome from Southwestern California.

I am sure you can figure out a way to cobble something together from Industrial Salvage.

Thanks for welcome, where exactly are you? I lived in La Mesa for a short stint while stationed at NAB Coronado
