I use a long wrench where I cannot get a ratchet and socket, or power tool. When I use a power tool I may use many extensions, adapters, and swivels, with combinations of the previously mentioned.
I use the long high performance box end 0 degree wrenches to break things loose in those tight spots, then flip and use the ratcheting end. These have been great.
If I can't get the box end on there, I will use a flank drive plus, if I fell that it may strip. If it starts to strip, I can feel it before it goes, unless it is very corroded, or already cross-threaded from previous abuse. I do not have the Flank Drive Plus in SAE though. I often run into a mix of bolts and stuff on my care projects, that have a considerable amount of aftermarket or custom hardware.
Of all my wrenches I probably use the ratcheting end of my Flank drive plus wrenches the most. The flank drive plus ratcheting wrenches are longer the the flank drive plus combos, but shorter than the long patterns. I feel this is a better choice because you get a reversible ratcheting box with a longer better grabbing wrench. (Win win in my book).
