Can anyone tell me who makes the longest long pattern wrenches. Most of what I'm finding as "long pattern" really isn't that long.

High Performance box box are longer than the combos but they aren't as comfortable, and they have either zero offset of 15 deg offset available.
Snap-On long combos are probably the longest readily available combos.

I've got the long pattern gearwrench set. If you'd like to pick a particular size as a reference I'd be happy to measure it for you.

That's their way of saying "you're doing it wrong, use a breaker bar and a socket".

With long pattern it's probably the most expensive that are going to be the longest of the professional brands but it ain't gonna be more than a couple inches either way. See above.

Oh...you could use wrench connectors on long pattern wrenches and that would be double long but not be as low profile as just using a wrench. Around 15 bucks a set (ez red).:dunno:

Not that this means anything, but in 40 years I have never needed extra long wrenches. I have always found a way to remove fasteners without damage. If I was stinking rich I might have a set for Gee Whiz factor.

You haven't needed them because you probably don't own them. I use mine every single day as my go-to wrenches. You can't work in manual labor and deny that leverage doesn't matter because that's just an entirely ignorant stance to take. The only good reason to use a shorter wrench is when is when the long ones physically can't fit.

The toptul 10-19 set was less than $100 last I checked.

I like SO DBEs for bolt busters when there isn't enough room for socket/breaker bar combination.

I've got a set of Armstrongs... seem plenty long to me. A nice step up from the RPs I had before at least. If I need more leverage, I've got GW super-long DBE fixed/flexes. I'm not using the open end at that point anyway, it would probably just round out.

I'm adding Snap On for comparison

[1"] MAC LP[17.0"] SO REG [...] SO LP [17.0"]

The Snap On regular FDP wrenches are pretty long. The SO long pattern (SO LP) wrenches are the same as MAC in inch sizes.

Metric sizes
[10mm] MAC LP[198.4mm] SO REG [171] SO LP[186] SO HP15 [264 ]
[11mm] MAC LP [209.6mm] SO REG [184] SO LP [203] SO HP15 [246]
[12mm] MAC LP [219.1mm] SO REG [195] SO LP [218] SO HP15 [264]
[13mm] MAC LP [230.2mm] SO REG [207] SO LP [234] SO HP15 [289]
[14mm] MAC LP [241.3mm] SO REG [219] SO LP [250] SO HP15 [289]
[15mm] MAC LP [255.6mm] SO REG [231] SO LP[266] SO HP15 [334]
[16mm] MAC LP [268.3mm] SO REG [242] SO LP [282] SO HP15 [334]
[17mm] MAC LP [282.6mm] SO REG [255] SO LP [298] SO HP15 [360]
[18mm] MAC LP [298.4mm] SO REG [267] SO LP [314] SO HP15 [384]
[19mm] MAC LP [314.4mm] SO REG [279] SO LP[330] SO HP15[360]
[20mm] MAC LP [330.2mm] SO REG [384]
[21mm] MAC LP[347.7mm]

Snap On Long pattern metric versions are shorter than Mac up to 13mm, but longer in sizes above 13mm. 19mm is about 1" longer.

As previously mentioned, the Snap On high performance (SO HP15 above) double box wrenches are VERY long and pro mechanics I know really like them. They are significantly longer than the long pattern combination wrenches. The zero degree wrenches are longer than the listed 15 degree wrenches. Also notable is that the ring ends are smaller than comparable combination wrenches.

I personally really like the Snap On FDP open end and wouldn't want to live without them. But when I need a box wrench, I tend to reach for a high performance model because they are longer.

Had I to do it all over again, I would have chosen regular length ratcheting combos, stubby ratchet combos, then 0 degree and 15 degree high performance (non ratcheting). I don't really need a long ratchet wrench. I think I would also prefer the flare combos instead of double ended flare nut wrenches.

I agree with the earlier statement, pro or old guy like me, you really benefit from having a long wrench. Conversely, once it's broken free, you want the shortest possible tool. While I really like my FDP combos, I don't use them often. Ditto for std length ratchet handles. I use the longest ones I have and the shortest ones I have most often.

I had a dream that I bought SO extra long combos, I would go to the drawer, pick out the wrench, and when I got back to the job, the bolt was all ready finger loose. It kept happening, every time I got those wrenches out. I later found out that the bolts are so scared of those wrenches, they loosen themselves. Then I woke up in a cold sweat screaming the name of my Snap On driver.

sometimes you just need a long wrench and the open end is the only thing you can "slide" in there.
for stuck fasteners i agree. if you are trying to pull on a 15" open end, there is a ton of leverage there to make a nice round nut.

The TOPTUL extra long are pretty long. I've got a shipment coming in soon (I hope, depending upon the mood of the West Coast Dock Workers). I sell these for $50 a set from 10-19 all sizes included. Check EBay in a couple of weeks.

I use a long wrench where I cannot get a ratchet and socket, or power tool. When I use a power tool I may use many extensions, adapters, and swivels, with combinations of the previously mentioned.

I use the long high performance box end 0 degree wrenches to break things loose in those tight spots, then flip and use the ratcheting end. These have been great.

If I can't get the box end on there, I will use a flank drive plus, if I fell that it may strip. If it starts to strip, I can feel it before it goes, unless it is very corroded, or already cross-threaded from previous abuse. I do not have the Flank Drive Plus in SAE though. I often run into a mix of bolts and stuff on my care projects, that have a considerable amount of aftermarket or custom hardware.

Of all my wrenches I probably use the ratcheting end of my Flank drive plus wrenches the most. The flank drive plus ratcheting wrenches are longer the the flank drive plus combos, but shorter than the long patterns. I feel this is a better choice because you get a reversible ratcheting box with a longer better grabbing wrench. (Win win in my book).

Sometimes I wish I had more long wrenches. I'm on the farm and quite often I use a second wrench to make a cheater by putting the box end of the second wrench into the open end of the first wrench. I know it can't be good for the wrenches, but it does double the leverage.

Matco/Armstrong make extra long in 10-21mm and 3/8-1 inch sizes comparable to snap on and Cornwell

The only other wrenches I can think of is snap on oh series which the 15/16 is about 19 1/4 long

I made a long wrench for loosening 13mm drain plugs. I took one 13mm 6 pt craftsman RP wrench & one 12 pt version of the same, I cut the open ends off, beveled the edges, & gave it a nice hot weld. I haven't broken it yet & I'm thinking of making some more like it.
