Been lurking like others for a while, and gathering ideas. Finally able to afford a tight budgeted small shop, so in May I had a friend pour me a smooth finished 6 inch thick 24x30 slab- boy was this poor timing to build on a budget, concrete prices were steep, but it's done right-, and figured a metal building would meet the criteria. Budget is only around $15k or so, so I had to make concessions and the cheap metal building was the only way. I will be wiring it with the help of a close friend, and hopefully be able to horsetrade with another friend for foam insulation.
It'll be a home for my '46 Chevy truck and my '52 Chevy truck, and a place to work on said projects. Probably a propane heater for winter, but in the summer I'll likely roast.
As of right now I am boiling mad at the metal building company. I bought in March, was told 8 to 10 weeks. At 18 weeks I began calling every week, and finally got a date last week for tomorrow. Today at 4 pm, after taking off work for it, and having my electrician friend scheduled to help wire it Friday, they call and have pushed it back to Saturday "because they are behind". If I'd bought before the pandemic and it hit, I'd understand. But I bought during the pandemic and they'd been dealing with it for a while and could have at least been honest about the timeframe and communicate with me. Oh well. I just need them to hurry up. LOL

Welcome to the forum from the shore of San Diego Bay. My first pickup was a '48 Chevrolet, with deep regret I had my father sell it after I joined the Navy in '61.
