I've been frequenting this site since 2013 but I've never actually taken the time to post much. I've been helped tremendously by the collective knowledge here, so hopefully I can start contributing soon.

I do a little bit of everything in the garage but am mostly interested in welding and metal fab. I'm 8 months away from being out of the Air Force and looking forward to escaping my desk job. I've been welding as a hobby on and off for the last ten years or so and once I'm out I plan on getting some formal training or apprenticing and finding myself a welding job. I also would like to start running a small fab shop similar to what Kaz does out of my garage, so hopefully there is a CNC plasma table in my future.

Thanks to all the awesome people that make this site such a wonderful resource. Hopefully I can be helpful as well.

Bryce: you've been a member almost as long as i have and look at the difference in post count? i lurked for maybe 6 years before joining cause almost every Google search brought me here. now i'm on GJ daily and love it.

since you are talking CNC how about checking out Slodat's thread and here's the link cause he's been putting together a nice shop/business and just picked up a CNC and a few other tools.

as a favor to those that post a lot if you read a thread or some posts and like it take a second to say WELL DONE or thanks or some comment so we'll know that our posts are being read and appreciated.

cheers and hope you learn to love this place as much as i do.

Yep, I've got some catching up to do. I've got some stuff cued up to contribute so I can start paying back all the answers I've found here. I'll have to take a look at Slodat's thread later. I thought I had bookmarked all the guys with CNC Plasma tables but somehow I missed that one.

Bryce: Slodat just picked it up 2-3 weeks ago so i thought maybe the 2 of you could learn together. he also picked up a few more cool machines for his shop you might like to buy for yours too.

good luck and hope you enjoy your retirement!

Welcome. I am in a similar situation. I have lurked on and off for a long time, and decided to try to actively participate more. I have found having a build thread helps motivate me to keep working on projects in the garage, and showing the progress made.
