Look at the snout on the snappy. It's more streamlined. It's also narrower around the trigger. Likely a few more places too.

That's because one ad lists max torque (called just torque) and the other lists break away torque (or nut busting torque). Two different ratings, despite some companies confusing the two.

TBH, I don't believe that the HF can have a max torque of 1000 ft-lbs and a break away of 1190. An IR2235 has a max torque of 930 and a break away of 1,350. So if you go by the max torque on the HF, it's more powerful than the IR2235, but if you go by nut busting torque, the HF XT is closer to an IR2135 than a IR2235.

I know that, but they always make their stuff seem WAY better. Plus in this ad the sound db's are the same. Maybe that had the muffler removed in the first ad.

I love how that ad in the OP says it has a 5 star customer rating.

Now that its been sold for more than a few hours, the bad reviews are starting to roll in.

Its still a power tool from HF.

Yeah but for the price I'd use it any day over an MG725, I'd never pay 500 bucks for any 1/2" impact anyway. Mg725's have their reliability issues, I just replaced an inlet seal on one that is almost new. Same old stuff I've seen for years with them. These will be pretty decent tools, I'd be willing to bet on it.

1 Failure and 2 complaints about not having enough power (which could be an inadequate air supply) doesn't seem like the bad reviews are rolling in.

I do want to see these guns tested for how much power they actually have. I don't believe they can actually have 1000 ft-lbs of max torque with a nut busting rating of only 1190 ft-lbs. I contacted Daniel at real tool reviews and he said he would try to test one of these as soon as possible.

I purchased a $12,000 IR jib crane mounted impact that didn't make it through one (1) use. When I finally convinced IR to send me a rebuild kit, and not a service tech because I've probably rebuilt more of these than them, it was a cheap plastic sleeve that had went bad, or improperly installed at the factory(most likely)! I hate to be this way, but most companies are building poor internals for their products.

Here's what we used in the 2 1/2" variety: http://www.ingersollrandproducts.co...tion-impactools/1-1-2-3-1-2-drive/5000-series

As a general rule, I never buy anything from HF with a cord or air line connection....
I bought an air saw and it can't even cut plastic never mind metal. Last time I believe their marketing..

If I-R would cheap out on something like that which is designed for industrial use, just think of all the cheapness built into their consumer grade products.

Once again, you have a company riding on its name and past reputation to draw in the un-informed weekend DIYer.

I was going to post same thing I wouldnt take 3 Hf impacts over a SO I get HF adds all the time everything shows 4 stars or more I bet there just print those that way not real ratings and always give compared to prices to what ? Other junk. I was in there the other day and all there old display tools we're all marked down 50% and on a cart I walked right by their air tools aren't even worth half what they want for them. I doubt the hf is really 1000ftlb of torque and I thought the mg725 was rated over a thousand like 1100 or more can't remember. Looknit up folks

The only way to be truly happy, is to buy the more expensive one.

For the rest, HF, has a $20 off coupon for any earthquake product in the Oct. flyer.
