$30 CL ad said old garage cabinet. Well it was really sad. One of those cool old promoTune Up Cabinets like United Delco. It was missing handles and drawers, had a hole punched in the side and had been painted over twice.

Saving the original stuff was impossible so I decided to make it look old school cool and throw a little love to VINTAGE Craftsman.

Stripped the layers of paint and repainted it. Polished the painted handles to clean metal and sprayer some clear. Left the sheet metal corner trim unpainted and polished that as well. Added some Art Deco style handles and some stainless winged trim and then the Vintage Craftsman decal. I made a metal framework to support the one good drawer and it works fine now. I had a set of good big casters from an old box and bolted those up. Cleaned up the big hole in the side near the bottom and added a rubber cord grommet for the future.

Decided to leave the old stained hardboard with stainless edge. It just reminds me of the real garage work that was done atop this cool old piece. Still have a little more to do but you get the idea. It just sorta jumped out at me when I saw it sufferin..

I really don't have the room for it either. But it was in need of help and I knew I sure could not hurt it.
These were not really much more than light duty cabinets made for automotive tune up gear and some lightweight stuff but they looked cool.
Hard to believe how bad this one was treated. Black and gray latex paint brushed all over it. Drawers tossed and handles snapped. Shoved in the back of a storage locker getting no respect. Now it will live the easy life. Hope it can stand cigar smoke.
