One of these days I need to post pics of all the tools and equipment given to me at work because I am the only one there who can haul it. I have been given lathes, a large horizontal band saw, Uni-Notch, panel saw, fork lift, and etc. but usually it is 3 phase equipment that I give to my dad to use in his home shop. But today I finally got something I have been needing for a while.

I know some people don't like Dayton, but this thing is built tough and extremely heavy. Also, it's almost unused. It is hard to tell in the picture, but it is atleast 6 1/2' tall, and weighs over 700 lbs. Plus it was built in Taiwan, not China.

This is a HUGE step up from my Central Machinery benchtop drill press that wobbled like crazy. Plus it was free!

Very nice! I have a trailer if you ever need help getting something free to my place. . ..

It would be quite a haul for you. I am lucky to have access to anything from pickups to semis depending on how big of a machine they give me. My dad has a construction company so all I do is call him up and he is there by the time I clock out.

Big time suckage, lets see the other free equipment!

I will try to get pictures next time i am at my dad's. I am trying to get some other equipment as they are redoing the entire fab shop where I work, and getting rid of all types of equipment. It's getting a little harder though, they used to give me anything big, as most people can't move them, but now they have some bean counter in there trying to sell everything.

Clearly they value you as an employee, so you've earned it all. And God bless your employer for treating a good employee right. Congrats!

Thanks for the kind words.

Until recently I hated what I did here. I was a welder, and all day everyday it was the same weld (basically on a production line) a hundred times a day. The only thing that kept me coming into work was all cool stuff I would get. Plus a nearly unlimited supply of scrap metal. Now I am in Engineering, and my job is different everyday, so it's not so bad. The only negative is that I am not in the same building as fabrication and miss out on a lot of the little stuff they give away. I will say this is the best company I've ever worked for. They paid 100% of my schooling to get into the Engineering field, plus other very good benefits.

Nice grab for sure and its always great to upgrade at no cost.

I don't get the Dayton comment. Dayton is Graingers private label I believe and most of their stuff is decent if not better. Now its not cheap to buy from Grainger.

I personally like Dayton, but while searching the internet for information on this drill press, I ran across several posts calling Dayton "Chinese junk". I always believed Dayton was a quality name brand.

Same thing at my old job. It was an auto parts company and they sold off a floor of the building to lease out for storage. The maintenance shop called me and told me if I could haul it, I could have it. So, I scored nicely....

VERY NICE!!! The drill press that followed me home from work is an old 1/2 worn out Wilton that has probably 10 layers of machine paint on it. Its handy at best lol

You have a nice unit there.

And cherish these days when you can do this kind of stuff with your dad!

Interesting. I've always been impressed with Dayton's quality. Awesome score!

Well I'm glad to hear that. Like I said, I always liked Dayton and thought they were a quality tool, but after reading some of the negative reviews I got a little worried. It's nice to know that negatives with them were pretty unfounded. I love this drill press, I haven't had a use for it yet, but I've showed it off to anybody who is near by.
