I kinda new here. Saw how some of you restored older tool boxes and they looked good. So I was riding down the road and there is a trailer with all kinds of stuff on it. lookk loke a couple of tool boxes in the back. So I turned around to get a better look, from the fence it looked like a snap on box and something else. Called the number and man came out ,He opened up the gate and showed me his stuff.
Yes there was a snap on box and a matco table box I think.I bought both of these for $100 thought that was a deal. Can you tell about them? and what paint to use to replicate Snap on red and Matco
Plan on fixing then up and putting them to good use,I would be grateful on any info

Look in the front, lower left corner for a model number or on the back- for the Snap On box. Not sure on the Mac.

There's a toolbox thread with Snap On color codes.

You did good on that deal !!! The Matco cart must have been in the desert sun for some time to fade like that !! A little loving they will be great again.I know someone will chime in on the paint code for the Snap On Box. I think the Matco cart is powder coated don't know what the paint code might be.

Dude i love that Matco cart!! Can`t wait to see them sorted out.

What exactly was it made to be used for. You have to lift the top a bit to get the drawers to open
Has holes on each side for screwdrivers and the like. Do you fill the top with socket rails?

In my area, we used to call those boxes, "Track boxes" (talking about the Snap On) - because you can easilly pull the front down to keep prying eyes away when you are in the pits --- plus its light enough to get back in your truck/trailer on race day repeatedly (well, somewhat light - still a 2 man job if its full of tools)
Plus the front cover keeps the drawers from jostling loose when you are in transit

Thats the hot setup for low buck racing when you are pitting out of the back of your pickup or an open top utility/car trailer.
Nowadays - i go to the races and i seem to just see row after row of nice big V-nose trailers, all equipped with rollaways strapped down in the front --- i miss simpler times :(

The numbers will be there. Sometimes with the old ones, it is real hard to see. It took me a while to find mine on an old box I had. I swore it was not there. Good find!

Macfast, I have 2 SO KRA 58C chests, very similar to yours. The model # is stamped on the back of the chest . Do a google search for Snap On KRA 58C and you will get lots of pictures, none exactly like yours, but the 58C picture is there. Mine were bought mid-'70s. Heck, one even has the same blue "KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF" sticker.
