I just came home for a vacation (work overseas). Mama surprised me with an unexpected present. She knew I surfed US made vises on CL so she did so herself and liberated this gem from an old guy who didn't use it anymore.
A 3 1/2 inch Wilton. Beautiful shape with original finish. No abuse anywhere, darn near like new. I have no idea what year it is, but I always wanted a vise smaller than the 8" Snap-On. Should I decide to paint it, what paint is a good match for original color? Art

That is wonderful, she is a keeper!!! I have that same 3-1/2" wilton vise but can't find one if the pipe jaws. It was my fathers. I use a mit vise on my bench as a beater. It's holding up suprisingly well over the years.

Hope you don't mind me pointing this out but Try mounting your vise to the very front of your bench so you can hold long parts in your vise vertically. This is a pet pieve of mine, and my eyes are drawn to it immediately.

Yours has a lot of setback.

If you put it on the corner you can hold stuff vertically in two orientations. And in addition the vise is mounted directly over the leg of the bench which gives it more stable support.

Interesting that no one bothered to answer your question. If you do decide to paint it, I suggest you consider repainting it red or blue. Either will look good. Green is another option.
