Looking again for help identifying these to tool

Need help again identifying two more items in the attachments below. I think the rusty device is used for lifting bait barrels or some other items to ships. The other device could be for tightening two cables or ropes.

Not sure on the first one, but the second one is some sort of turnbuckle that basically is as easy to hookup as a single hook, but uses opposing direction hooks to form a mostly secure eyelet.

My first instinct on that first one is maybe an early fence stretcher? The earliest ones would've just used a stick through it to the ground and you plant one end of the stick in the ground and pull back on the top of the stick. I could see it working for chainlink. I could be way off, though.
