I'll be looking at a Snap On box and tools tomorrow, asking price is 5K. Any idea of a good price on this box combo?

How wide are the drawers? For some odd reason yellow tool boxes sell less then standard colors and outrageous colors.

A lot of tools if so what brand?

I am thinking anywhere from $2500-$3000 tops in tool storage here in NY. But don't forget cash talks and cash is something a lot of people don't have now a days.

Is the center section supposed to be a hutch too? along with the top hutch? I don't understand the setup at all. Personally I wouldn't pay anymore than the bottom is worth, 2K maybe 2500. The whole setup would probly be nice for at home but, I wouldn't buy that for home use. So there's a whole bunch of tools along with the box, all for 5K?

Its prob worth 5000 if there are name brand tools in there and a good amount of them. Those boxes arnt cheap new but they dont bring big money used.

Not a fan of the hutch and storage locker, the hutches are nice but you cant store a lot of tools in them. Id pass

I looked almost a year for a snap-on krl or matco 6 box. I was looking for a triple bay box and found that most of the snap-on krl triple bay with ss top were going between 4000-5000 and found a few with a full size side lockers for 4800 and 5200. I think you can find a better deal on a box. I ended up getting a matco 6s triple bay with hutch for 3k because it was the color I really wanted and fit perfect in the spot in my garage.

I would pay 5k for it if it was full of decent tools. Guy at work has his 78 for sale for $2k without hutches and whatnot. If tools inside are junk Id try for 3k.

I am not a Snap On expert by any means, but just from watching Craigslist...that seems high, although not common by any stretch.

you ****!

Two weeks after I bought the box I found a matco 6 triple bay in red with a ss top for 1500. I called the guy right away and he said it sold in less then 30 mins. He was moving and couldn't take the box with him. That was the lowest I have seen one. If you keep your eye out on CL or get the CL notifier app the deals come up. You just need to be quick to call them. I would suggest taking your time and search around until you find the one you like and for a good price.

In this buyers market, I would make a low offer on every decent large box I found...If you make 5 low ball offers, you will get at least one of them calling you back saying, "I'll take it." I have done this all of my life....

Yellow is one of the least desirable colors in general when trying to sell

Unless you love it and its filled with stuff you want or can resell for a few thousand bucks I think it's too high throw a 3 grand "cash"
Offer out and see what happens

:+1::+1::+1: I have bought two boxes that came out of a body shop, only because they were SUPER CHEAP ($1 KRA59, came out of a pro body shop) and a (~$50 KR637/657 came out of a home based body shop). I WOULD NOT pay any sizable amount of money for a box that came out of a body shop. Yea they may not be greasy, but the dust I will call it is just plain nasty and damaging to the box. Think of spraying water on your box and then throwing flour on it.

I don't know much about the newer boxes, but to me that is not worth $5K, UNLESS it is jam packed with truck brand tools. Which it sounds like it is not. Also beware of body shop air tools. Body shop guys are notorious for never oiling air tools to prevent oil spray on the work that may show up in the final results. Just my 2¢.

Didn't you just buy a nice $100 taco wagon box? Were you looking to purchase this for resale or for personal use?

Yellow is kinda cool. It's sort of like safety orange, bright red -- a racing color. But I'd pick red, blue, black over yellow anyday. The yellow color could be used to negotiate a better deal on it.

I am sure the tools are mostly non-truck branded, or else he'd have closeup pics of every single drawer. The hutch can be used to store those plastic containers that hold AC manifold sets, brake bleeder kits, pulling kits, power tools, etc. and also repair manuals. Or the modern equivalent of a repair manual (a laptop). I bought a factory Chrysler repair manual (electronic) for the wife's PT Cruiser for $5 off ebay -- way better than Chilton/Haynes.

I certainly wouldn't want it. I'd rather have a used KRL1003 in good shape and I could easily find one for 5K.

Might be $5K worth of tools in there, so premature to decide on the tool box.

It may be a bonus . . . keep it or leave it.

Good luck once you find out what's all in there. You might decide that "make-over" of garage is in order to accomodate the yellow tool box. Color scheme of yellow / black / red . . . . might look pretty cool if done right. :dunno:

This will be a toolbox from a deceased person, his wife is selling. Until I have a look everything is in air.

I once bought a brand new set of snap on bel air screwdrivers on craigslist super cheap (40) with the intention of using them (not as a collectible) after talking to the guy they were from his deceased nephew, I dont know why but I can't bring myself to touch them because of that, they still sit in my box brand new...........

How dull it is to pause, to make an end,
To rust unburnished, not to shine in use!

It would honor the spirit of the deceased soul more to put those great tools to good use and fix and repair things with them.

I met the widow who has the Snap On toolbox and tools. Here are a few pics of what I was interested in, ZERO wiggle room on the price. 80% of the tools are body work specific.
