Looking at a Rotary Lift

I have a line on a used Rotary SPOA9-200 lift. I have only seen it in photos so far but it looks in fairly good shape. It is still installed so I should be able to see it in action if I decide to go look at it (it is about an hour away). At 9000 lbs it should lift anything I would want to but it will not have a lot of margin on my Excursion (listed weight of 7800 lbs).

So a couple of questions, first any opinions on lifting lets call it an 8000 lb gaint SUV in the Excursion (I would be sure to use safety stands on each end). 2nd, If I go look at it and I like what I see, is their $2800 asking price anywhere in the ballpark for a used Rotary lift (seems a bit high to me but I have not really been looking at used lifts).

Thanks!

You should be able to buy a used Rotary 2 post for about $1800, so the price leaves a bit to be desired.

Agreed. I routinely see used Rotary lifts in that size on Marketplace for around $1200 to $1500 depending on condition. Price seems high to me as well. Maybe if it comes with all kinds of adapters and pads...OK. For a standard used lift, $2800 is high.

I have the same lift which I got used. it was a takeout from a car dealer that replaced all their lifts. It has no problem with my crew cab diesel dodge and have left projects in the air for an extended amount of time. you can get shims and anchors from ebay as several vendors sell there. I did the install myself and only replace the hose that crosses over as it showed some signs of weeping, I inspected the balance cable and decided not to replace it as some might suggest. I payed 1200 for it but that was pre-covid.

If gotten a newer rotary SPOA-10 with the updated trio arms. Those arms are definitely a step up from the standard arms. I dont think they have the SPOA-9 anymore and just make the SPOA-10. If you scour FB market place youll likely find a used lift. I have seen a few in my area at about half what I paid new, but where not in the greatest condition.

Everyone, thanks for your inputs so far. I was thinking that the price was a bit high. I am planning a shop upgrade that will include a lift but I really do not need it yet as I am no where close to being able to install it. So I would have to store it until needed. Something I would do for a good deal but this one may not be it. I may or may not go look at it. Who knows, they could always take a low ball offer.
