garbage. Used them for towing as they were cheap and we could buy 8 of them for the price of a nice jack. Mostof them lasted a month. The pistons would blow out. Also they hardly lifted anything besides a civic, I tried once to do the front corner of a crown vic and literally had a hard time.

Conversely, I've found mine to be great. Lifted, without issue, corners of a Town Car, a couple of different Crown Victorias, front (and alternatively, rear) of a Mustang and more.

I bought mine for the exact reason you did - occasional roadside use. It's lightweight, and works great. I'm not expecting miracles out of it, but it's done what I've asked of it.

Maybe just a bad batch of them. IDK

Love 'em. Have 2. Has lifted a corner of our '05 Yukon and my '08 4wd SuperDuty (front corner, was looking for a brake noise).

I used it yesterday to elevate my woodstove to space it higher off the ground LOL.

I have one and use it lots and find it pretty good. Our cars tend to be smaller in the U.K. though. I would recommend getting a double piston one though. I had a single piston one but it was a cheap Chinese thing and it kept blowing o rings.

Just checked the date on mine: 12/03. Pretty sure I bought it more than 4 years ago so that makes it 13 years old. It has always worked flawlessly.

Thanks. Seems like any other similar jack is at least twice the price, and they all look alike.

What's the big deal if it's lightweight... I take my full size jack in the service truck all the time. Not the easiest to throw in there but I know it won't let me down either.

Whatever floats your boat but my "real" shop jacks are ~100 lbs. Call me a ***** if it makes you feel better but I can't load that alone. Go through a microdiscetomy and you might feel the same way.

This is an area where I prefer to divide & conquer: big 3 to 3.5T for the shop floor, small agile for quick roadside work or checking wheel bearings during a used vehicle purchase. Again, if you have one jack that fits all your needs good on you, it just doesn't work for all of us (or maybe just me).

Powerbuilt 3.5T from 2004 comes in at 97 pounds. Solo I'm not getting that into the bed of my 4wd 2008 SuperDuty or even the LOW bed of my '88 2wd Ranger.

It was doing this in the first place that put my L4/5 under the knife.

The HF is the deal of deals. You're nuts if you crawl under the car with only it holding it up but if it fails you'll know before anything bad should happen unless you're a *****. Been using one on a friends drift car for a year for changing tires at the track and it's worked flawlessly.

You're a ***** if you crawl under a vehicle with ANY jack supporting it, even a top of the line SnapOn. Your life depends on a $0.10 o-ring either way.

I have that one and the 3 ton aluminum. The small one has been fine for tire changes, but won't lift high enough to get an end of the minivan up.

It also fits in a 7 gallon pool chemical bucket, which is what we keep track tools in for easy storage and transport.

This. I have two bad shoulders, and at 69, my days of heavy foolish lifting are over. I have a 1 1/2 ton Blackhawk and 2 ton Walker for use at home, and both are too heavy (and large) for hauling in the car.

We carry one around in our Astro Van and I use it to lift it for repairs, sometimes the whole front end. Works good.

Also have an aluminum ARCAN 3.5 ($200) for the E350 Econoline.

Buy the HF.

What are you lifting?

Bill

We have a KIA Sportage and KIA Soul. All I want is tire change capability without using the OEM jack.

My neighbor just borrowed ours an hour ago, to change a flat tire on his Expedition, so I think it will do you fine. He's going to get one. Keep a short piece of 2x4 and one of 4x4 to get more height when needed.

I have a similar 1.5T racing jack, but from Torin (Big Red)... maybe 10 yrs old, used rarely, its pretty rusty and I just rebuilt it with new o-rings. I guess for the money (sub-$100) it wasn't bad. Bought it for track days... mostly lifting my M3, now lifting my tractor ;)

Nothing bad to say about my Pittsburg jack.. towing companies will often abuse jacks, using them to do things they were never meant to do. I watched one tow truck use that same jack to open up some space between the engine and front end of a wrecked car.. you can only use what you have, so it's not like you can blame the guy. Pretty sure it's safe to say the HF jacks have earned some respect on here..

I picked up two of these a couple of years ago to replace a little Craftsman jack that I'd had for about 20 years.

I leave one in my storage unit for changing wheels and tires before and after autocrosses. Jacks are lightweight, portable and do what I've needed them to do.

I do, however, regret not buying the next larger size. The lift height on these 1.5 ton jacks isn't quite high enough, so I end up using them with a block of 2x4 or 4x4 for a bit of extra lift.

For simple tire changes they cant be beat. However, theses lightweight jacks do not like any "side load" and will bend the main frame if even lightly abused. I bought one just before new years and paid $54.99 with a coupon..... then added the $12 dollar extended warranty for an additional 12 month (on top of the original 90 day warranty). They told me I could exchange it no questions asked.... I could even bring it back if it got dirty.... They don't care. For simple and quick tire changes on cars and small SUVs it's the jack to have.

The $54.99 coupon that I had is expired now, but I still see the $59.99 coupon all over the place..... Don't pay the $89.99 "sale" price.
