Some people have also noted before that if you drill all the way through you could potentially have an issue with dampness from the ground below coming up through the hole and corroding fastener... but you could probably make the same argument that if you don't drill all the way through and water gets down he hole it has nowhere to go.

If you're not drilling all the way through you can always just take the more normal approach of cutting the studs flush with the slab when they're not needed anymore.

I like to use a core drill sometimes when I'm worried about breaking out the cone of concrete at the bottom. They rotate without any impact that would fracture the last inch of concrete. Also, if you use epoxy anchors, you could be sending a whole tube down the hole to fill that void. My concrete was about 5 1/2 ", so I packed the holes with shop towels to avoid some of the loss. On my lift, I also hit rebar on three holes, but cut through since it was the same piece running through all of them. The anchors were quite long and the holes were 1 /4 " diameter. I'll be giving away the 5.5" x 3/4" anchor bolts that came with it.
