Looking for 4 post lift

We got another car, and need a lift. I want a 4 post lift, and have the doors opening high in a 14' ceiling. Just looking for recommendations of lifts.

I have the Bend Pak catalog, somewhere, and looking at info from American Automotive Equipment and Best Buy Auto Equipment.

Any ideas or experience would be appreciated.
TIA,
Peter

Peter,

I bought the Auto Lift Car Park 8 extra tall from Best Buy Auto. I got it with 12 months no interest. I plan to buy another one in the spring.

I had it shipped to work. Used the fork lift to load on a Uhaul trailer and took it home. Unloaded it myself with 2 - 4 wheel dollies. My brother and I built it in about 2 hours. The "Chinglish" instructions just made matters worse. First time I built and used a lift.

So far so good. Have used it multiple times for service and obvioulsy storage. No complaints.

Regardless of what 4 post lift you buy, make sure you get drip trays with it.

Check out our Challenger / Quality brand.
Center mounted cables, not outside mounted cables, thicker materials, 1/2 inch cables, solid steel pulleys, where many lifts now have plastic idler pulleys, high strength runways instead of diamond plate. There is a tremendous difference in how lifts are designed. Take a look. Call me if you need.

I've had a propark 7K lift for at least 5 years, stored outside the entire time. The only time it's not been great is when you need to jack the car up while it's on the lift. Then you can see the ramps twist slightly. Never cause a problem, but they could be a bit stronger. It's fairly narrow so no duallys (and it's only a 7K). I think I paid $1500 brand new. I absolutely love it! Now I have a bigger garage and want a 2 post. A 2 post is more useful IMO.

BendPak! BendPak! BendPak!

I have their HD9-B (extra wide), along with a HD-45 rolling jack, a stationary jacking tray, and a set of casters. This is the ideal set up for being able to get your car off the lift for suspension work.

BendPak is EVERYWHERE - in a ton of shops and just about every show on tv. They've also been in business for about 50 years now. Many many more years than other competitors. Also, look on the internet for ANY customer complaints and you'll always see how their staff is courteous and especially helpful in taking care of their customers. That's what you want (NEED) from a lift company. Plus, you know that they'll be around for parts and service, in 15-20 years when you need something.

Another positive experience for Pro Park 9 Plus from Derek Weaver. Got the plus so I could park a full size truck under it. Also got the sliding jack which has been extremely useful. Would not hesitate to do again!

Bendpak is certainly a good company, but it is hard to position it as a better company than Direct-Lift. Direct-Lift is a subsidiary of Vehicle Service Group a Dover Company. The Vehicle Service Group is comprised of Rotary, ForwardLift, Revolution and Direct-Lift. Look in a commercial garage and you'll be hard pressed to find a Bendpak and to avoid finding a Rotary lift. This year, Rotary celebrates its 90th year in business.

I consider Bendpak and Direct-Lift to both be excellent choices. I ended up with a Direct-Lift because when I called the largest lift service company in my city, they indicated that the felt Direct-Lift provided better long term support for their products than Bendpak. They were a former Bendpak dealer and were the installer for my Direct-Lift.

I'm very happy with my Bend Pak HD9. With the exception of the little tiny switch they provide to directly switch a 2 HP motor. My switch exploded on me in the first two weeks of operation.

After exhaustive research, I bought the Backyard Buddy brand. Happy with the decision, thus far, zero issues.

I had my Bend Pak HD9 delivered, set-up and bolted down for about $3500. I spent a long time trying very hard to find a solution better for me than the HD-9 and finally decided that it was worth it.........and it was.

I bought my direct lift about 6 years ago from Derek Weaver and have not had any issues. I did get 2 of the sliding scissor jacks and they work great on it for suspension related works. No bottle jacks to mess with and is well worth the extra coin if you do that type of work with your lift.

I've had my BackYard Buddy Lift for over 20 years with no problems, American made in Warren, Ohio. Before buying I checked out a guy that had three BYB lift near me, he had big heavy 60's Mopar's sitting on them. One of the lifts he ordered with 12 volt power ( never understood why he did that ), it lifted the Mopar up with ease......that sold me on a BYB.

Another vote for the Backyard Buddy. You will not find a more sturdy lift no matter where you look. They are also American made.

I have a Bendpak HD9-XW and I have 2 local friends with Bendpak 4 post lifts. We are all happy campers. Good product from a good company. Support second to none.

I have a friend who also has a Back Yard Buddy and he loves it. Trying to support the local economy as the lifts are made right up the road from us and are well built.

One thing to watch with BendPak is that the widest lift they now offer is 110" overall width(100" between posts), while the Direct lift PP9 is 108" inside. My '05 F150 with factory mirrors wouldn't fit the BendPak without folding the mirrors in. It doesn't seem like it'd be a big deal, but it makes a big difference in the ease of getting the truck, and even smaller vehicles, on and off the lift.

Another vote for Bendpak. I'm very happy with mine and will probably buy another for the new garage.

Bought two Bend Pak HD9 lifts 10 years ago & they are still in use without any problems. One is for storage of a project car that has been in the air for several years & the other is my work lift for repairs.

Did a write up on the install with other info here.....

One thing I've seen others complain about are the quality of the casters you can get as an option from Bend Pak. The set I have work great, roll easily & serviceable with grease fittings. If you consider Bend Pak & need casters, make sure you research which ones you get.

Here is a thread on the caster issues.....

Hat tip to tdkkart!

Thought I'd let you know that you did a great job with the write-up and install, and it was helpful to hear the installer's comments. I'm looking into the same lift, mostly for storage, but occasionally for working on stuff.
