Hi,

I've decided to go w/o diffusers, and I'm looking for 4ft fluorescent 2 bulb fixtures w/ reflectors, but I'm not having any luck finding them.

Any ideas where I might be able to find them out there?

TIA

I've seen some with small reflectors at HD but doubt they are large enough reflectors to do much good.Price was right but quality is doubtful.I did not look closely.

You should be able to find them at reasonable quality (not necessarily the top industrial, mind you) at Lowe's and Home Depot. If their selection is not suitable, you'll have to try a commercial lighting distributor.

The HD Lithonia industrials (the ones that have the batwing reflector) will work, but i suggest only using a regualr strip with a white painted ceiling unless you have 15ft+ ceiling heights.

I picked up the 4' 2 built T8 Lithonia wrapped basket style. They are low profile and have a built in reflector with plastic lens. I think they were $31 at HD.

Thanks for all the inputs

I had looked at HD and Lowes websites before posting and didn't see anything. Looks like I'll need to head out to the local stores to see what they really have :)

I just went through this exact experience. The websites have no bearing on reality <grrr>. Go to the stores. I will say that in the end, HD came out better in my area than Lowes (unusual, but true). I got 14 of the 2 bulb bare fixtures for $25 each and the bulbs were on sale as well.

As i always preach:

Try going to a local wholesale electrical distributor, prices will be the same or slightly more but you will get a commercial grade ballast in the fixture and not an econo-residential grade (higher % THD and lower Ballast factor) that HD, lowes and the like sell. For example, Lithonia only sells Multivoltage in their T8 lineup now on a commercial level, and incidentaly the ballast is the same that is used in the specification grade fixtures that are much more expensive, they are <10% THD with a .90 or higher Ballast factor(more output from the lamps) from a reputable ballast manufacturer such as Osram, Phillips, GE etc..

One problem I have had with the lower cost ones with reflectors is the reflectors being so tight to the bulbs that you cannot easily get your bulb and fingers into the fixture when you need to replace a bulb.
I had to take down a fixture and bend the reflector flatter the other day when I decided that I was spending too much time up on a ladder.
