Did you have anything against the Earthquake XT? Sounds like it would fit the bill just fine...

I've read a few reviews saying that sockets are a bit wobbly fitting in the Aircat impacts, which can cause the gun to jump out of the lug nut holes in aluminum wheels, raising the risk of marring the surrounding area. What's your experience been with the 1000-TH in this regard?

Well, until yesterday I've never noticed my Aircat jumping, but that has just changed. I was hammering on max power on a fitting, trying to tighten something that it just didn't have enough strength on (long unrelated story, nothing automotive), and it started to kick back towards my hand in just the way that I'd expect from an air chisel. Bucking and bouncing like crazy, particularly if I press it forwards onto the socket.

I took it apart, and I don't see any unusual wear on the hammers, so I'm not sure what happened. I really don't use it much near it's torque limits, so there's a chance I haven't noticed it acting like it for some time. Spinning freely, it still runs as smooth as glass.

I switched to my IR 2135TiMax, and it worked exactly as expected. All impact, no bounce to my hand. But so much for my quieter gun. Now I'm itching for a 2235QTiMAX.

Weird that it never acted up for you before. I've only used my 1150 a few times, but so far so good.

Yeah, I've never noticed it do that before. This time, I was basically hammering with it all-out, and ended up doing a head to head comparison with my IR to see which had more power. Turned out they're roughly the same, and neither could tighten the fitting nearly enough for me, but that's not their fault. I'm just apparently asking for too much.
