First time I've posted here... I am.looking for a 2 post lift that will fit in my 12 x 20 ft garage... I can fit post up to almost 10 feet high, but really need a width of about 100 inches... The Danmar Max jax looks OK, but I'd really like to have more than a 48 inch rise! I really liked the overall dimensions of the Universalift 2, but know nothing about the company making these... If the Max Jax had a rise of 72 inches it'd be perfect!

Can anyone recommend a lift or have any info on the Universalift 2?

Thanks for your response!

I don't think you are going to find a 2-post lift with an outside the columns width of only 100". Your garage is 144" wide, why can't you use all that width?

You can put the columns of a Mohawk any distance you want from each other. They are only connected together via two stainless steel hydraulic lines.

You can get a floor plate model from Worth in custom width as well.
Worth Equipment

Even with the Mohawk you need to know your total installed width when ordering so the lift arms can be made accordingly.

Thanks for your responses so far... I'm limited on width due to cabinets on the walls...

Thanks again!

How high is your ceiling? 10' posts won't do you a lot more good than a 4' rise lift with a 5' tall car on board.

Good point^^. I can't picture a 12' wide garage having a ceiling that is very high.

You really want to be able to open the doors to the first stop so you can pop the hood, trunk, release the parking brake to work on the rear drums, etc.

I appreciate the responses! A couple of comments....

•Pmiranda- Ceiling has a 6 foot gap in the middle that opens to the roof and would easily fit 10 ft. high posts.

•Falcon67- Saw that one before... it would put the outside anchors on the seam next to the foundation..

I'm checking with Worth and Mohawk about the cost of customizing their lifts....

Thanks again for all your comments!

Myself and a few others on this board have the C-7000. Search under my name for past discussion. Bottom line is that I've been very happy with it.

This is the lift I've been looking for!! I will be purchasing this lift!

Jacobsed- Thank you!!!!

Whatever you do, make sure you look at installation requirements. Usually you need 3000psi concrete and. Minimum slab thickness for two post lifts.

I was in the same boat as the OP. You cannot put the columns of a Mohawk within 2 feet of the edge of a slab. My bay ended up being just under 12' wide. I used to have a Mohawk 10k in my last place but it wouldn't work here. I looked into in ground but ended up with a werther arm scissor lift that works perfect. All I drive is euro cars and it solves my need. Lift goes up over 6 feet so it is perfect.

The lift company Werther International appears to manufacture a broad pallet of high quality lifts. Where in N. America are Werther Int. sold? I dunno.

OP -

Have a preview of the Universalift #2, a shortened post height lift design of 94 inches, with a full raise height of approx. 6 feet; 72 inches as measured w/o using an adaptor. A height of 77 inches w/adaptor, et cetera.

The automotive equipment supply firm North American Auto Equipment owns a US patent for portable lifts of this scheme. I've purchased such a lift (#2), its on order with an expected delivery in January 2017. (approx. 5 to 8 weeks)
http://www.naautoequipment.com

With the use of an appropriate slightly modified HD hand cart, relocating the lift columns about my space or for an exterior setup, its accomplished with ease. A single person task with a modified HD hand cart I've seen with my own eyes. (The simple hand cart mod. is ingenious and for little money) Think of a hand cart with R/L outriggers attached. A fellow club member's idea.

Truly a flexible residential lift scheme. While our present garage space is height limited to just over 112 inches (9ft.3in) and 40ft wide ... its skies the limit when setup outside for power washing the 911 coupe, the VW, the Subi undercarriages.

In a tight location for installing a lift ,here is my experience:
1. If you get a 2 post, investigate having 3 stage arms- more versatility.
2. A 4 Post with casters solves a lot of problems.
3. An in-floor scissor lift it the best space saving and versatile option .Often discussed here.
