Looking for a 4-way switch

I'm a home brewer. I've been looking to setup a nice exhaust hood in my pole barn so I could brew and pull all the steam/CO out of the building.

I was at Lowes yesterday and found this clearance item sitting in a pile of boxes. It was marked down to $50.

I spoke with the manager. Apparently it was part of a special order for a kitchen build that fell through. The item was unopened and had been sitting in the storage room for 2 years. Lowes decided to just dump the items. The actual downdraft system was there too, but I only grabbed the blower.

So, I'd like to get this thing working. I found wiring diagrams online. They show that there are 3 live wires in addition to the ground and neutral. Power to individual wires will control the blower speed.

Are there any out-of the box controllers that I can get to allow off and 3 additional speeds? I'm looking for something that will fit into a standard outlet box. Something like a fan switch, but with multiple connectors. I looked online, but didn't see anything.

Worst case, I'll just have it run on high all the time.

You can buy two-speed fan wall switches. Center is off, hi and low are rocked each way. Easy way to get two speeds.

You need a four position maintained rotary switch rated for the motor. It will have a Common, T1,T2,T3, and T4. Power goes to Common, nothing on T1 (Off), Low on T2, Med on T3, Hi on T4.

I had a hard time finding a basic wiring diagram. In fact, I can't find it again.

Rather than having to build a special housing for a rotary switch, I'd be OK using a 3-way and having just medium and high speeds working.

It's 20A, so I think I'm good, but I'll double check the tags on the blower.

Looked for a some specs on this fan only found dimensions. Wiring and amps must come from the kitchen hood. Looking at other exhaust fans amp draw has to be under 4 amps. If you have amp meter just check it. These are common colors for multi speed motors.
Black ---- high speed
Blue ----- medium high speed
Orange -- medium speed
Red ------ low speed

Since this is designed to be attached to AND controlled by a separate range hood (or similar) I think the schematics 'live' with that other part.

Look there, then post what you find.

Unless these guys telling you what will work, have actually worked ON this specific model (or they have the schematics) I would proceed w some caution. I have a 1400CFM remote blower with a continuous speed control....and more than a pair of wires.
