I have a 9x9 insulated Clopay door (has sheetmetal panel on the inside too). The tracks have a long radius 90 and the horizontal track is angled to follow the scissor trusses. I am tired of opening the door manually, would like to install a jack shaft opener. It seems every opener has Wifi, battery back up, and a bunch of other doo-dads. I just want a quality opener that will provide many years of service at a reasonable price. I don't need fancy features - this door is on a detached garage that I will not need to open up during a power outage. I don't need my opener connected to the internet. I just want a local button in the shop to open it. Recommendations?

Nowadays they are probably all going to have those doodads.
If you don't want to connect the wifi then don't.
I do like the idea of battery backup though.
But if you don't want that then don't connect a battery. Hope you have a man door and a key though.

Congratulations on your excellent choice of a garage door.
I have had very good luck with Geni openers. The radio frequency they use has not been badly interfered with in my area. On the other hand Liftmaster Openers have suffered from local interference. i have always purchased the Geni model with both the Lowest Price and the Lifetime warranty.

Your local conditions probably don't include ships with high powered Radars. your local Garage Door Opener repair service should be able to address your local conditions.

It's a 30x40x12 building, of course it has a man door. I built this garage 5 years ago and have been opening the door manually since.

Had to look at your location, I've done work out in San Diego, never worked on Coronado but have gone out there a few times. I work in ship repair, mostly DDGs or Amphibs. I live 60 miles from the base in Norfolk and commute up there for work. Definitely don't need to worry about the ships radars interference. Door has been great.

The Liftmaster LJ8900 is a stripped down version of the 98022. I replaced my trolley opener with this.

Thanks for the link, I'll look into it. I really prefer basic things that just work. Recently bought a hot water heater and the damn things have an option for Wifi!

I have one of the consumer grade Liftmasters on a 9’ x10 ‘ door. It’s probably ten or fifteen years old, built before the WiFi, etc. and works ok.

When I had a slightly larger door installed on the shop lean to, the door company steered me to the light commercial Liftmaster line. They’re built heavier than the consumer models and didn’t incorporate all the do dads consumers go Gaga over. They cost more.

Caveat: I didn’t pull the trigger on it. It’s a perpetual “maybe next year” project.

When I was looking, all the info was on the Liftmaster website. They also have (at least at the time) a full commercial line, at a cost premium over the light commercial line.

I guess I should have said a "key" to the man door. I don't know how many times I've seen people waiting in their driveway while we worked to get the power back on. They only relied on the GDO to gain access to their house.
Outages that lasted several hours, I've seen people have to break into their own house. Comical and dumb at the same time at least from my perspective.
"Hey Mr. Lightman, how long until the power's back on"?
IDK probably 8 hours??
There they go around back to bust out a window.
lol

Battery backup garage door openers are a thing, if waiting is an issue to you.

Glad to hear that, may that door serve you for many years as you enjoy good health.

I hear you. My garage is purely for recreational stuff. Stores my Camaro and Jeep, all of my tools and materials. Nothing that I need in a power outage. Keys to the shop are hanging on the hook by the back door of the house.

You did remind me of a funny story. I had just got back into town, living at the old house. The neighbor had watched the house for us while we were out of town. I went out to the garage (attached) to grab a screwdriver or something, closed the door behind me to keep the heat in the house. I grabbed the screwdriver, went back to the door and found the bottom knob locked (I never lock the bottom knob), I was now locked out of the house with no phone or keys. I fashioned a slim Jim out of a piece of scrap metal and broke into my own house (wife was at work). Was able to get in with no damage to the house.

I just saw a used Liftmaster commercial jackshaft on Marketplace for $500. But other than that, everything new is gonna have "doodads"

And I love my MyQ "doodad" Kids need to borrow something, boom, door open from my phone. Remote battery dead, boom, door open from my phone. I'm out in the detached, that attached door is open and it starts raining, am I going to run across the driveway and shut the attached door, Nope, Boom, door closed from my phone.

I have two LifeMasters, installed probably 9 years ago. I've replaced one control panel, no cost, after maybe 5 years, one light fixture, also at no cost, just by contacting LM customer service. I use a remote car switch, hung next to the door to the house (attached 2 car garage) to open/shut the door when going in/out. I don't use the internet features or the battery backup. I lube the door rails when the time changes. My installer said lack of occasional lubrication was a common cause of complaints from customers, of all door types.
