Looking for a box/service cart

Currently have the 41 inch harbor freight box....

Im tired of the narrow depth drawers and constantly opening the top to grab sockets. Im shopping for a service cart currently.

Best cart for your hard earned $$. There's a huge thread dedicated to mods you can easily and cheaply do. (includes adding more drawers if you want to match the capacity of the one you linked above)

After re-reading your post, I may have misunderstood your request: Are you looking for a box replacement, or a supplemental cart for on-location work? My suggestion would of course only work as a supplement to your existing.

That matco one is nice, very nice. But honestly that red Harbor Freight is very high quality. They are all made in china for the most part. Not much of a difference when spending 5 times more. The HF one is super nice with easy rolling slides and gas shocks. Add a red flip down side tray and its awesome.

I like to goof on HF as much as the next guy, but these carts are good, and the point about no real difference for 5x the $ is right on point.

Check out the Craftsman 41" Top and Bottom Premium Heavy Duty Tool Chests at Sears, they were on sale last month during the Black Friday weekend, doesn't mean its not going to be on sale again.

The only issue with the harbor freight cart is I know I'll fill it almost right away from just transferring my current tools
I want something with a bit of extra room to grow into. I did have one for a while then grew out of it into a 46 inch snap on service setup.

I almost bought one of those cornwell carts but decided that I needed something with more than one deep drawer. If I remember correctly the cornwell has 6 2in drawers and 1 6in. It worked great but later decided I would rather a deeper box so I went with the krsc246 and removed one of the 6in drawers and replaced with 3 2in drawers. This option has served me very well

I really like that. Got me looking around and Northern has this 6 drawer Homak for $259 and 11 drawer for $439.99 (+ shipping if you don't have a B&M near you). They're both just bottom chests, instead of a cart with a lid, but both look pretty sweet and could easily be used as a cart.

I use one of these at work everyday, for the last 3 years. No problems. I have Snap-On and Waterloo main boxes , but see no reason to justify the expense of their work carts, leaving $100's for more tools!

Should be nice at ten times the price of HF. Boss has the Matco and never moves it around, instead uses a cheapo plastic( excuse me, POLYMER) utility that he loads up with whatever he thinks he needs. He says the top is too inconvenient.

Do a search for Waterloo boxes. I know they used to make Craftsman boxes and I bought their largest 56"x30" Magnum series a few years back from Northern Tool for 40% less than the comparable Craftsman Professional box Only thing that ever broke was the lock and it's been replaced for free, no questions asked, 3 times.

Roll carts are basically just small bottom tool boxes and are inconvenient to roll around. You need a bigger stationary box to store all your bigger stuff in and a service cart for all the hand and air tools you use constantly at whatever job you are doing. JMO, but I've been at the for almost 40 years. I like to spend my money on the tools that make me a living, not a fancy case to store them in(noting that, when I first got started, I bought nothing but Snap-On tools and boxes). Pride I guess. Now I hardly ever have to buy more tools, but that took a while.

The Harbor Freight 5 drawer red cart is very nice for the money.. I had one and gave it to a friend of mine and he has been using it at the shop he works at and been using it for a few years now and still holding like a champ...
