looking for a cheap tool bag

I am looking for an inexpensive decent quality tool bag for the essentials (hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, tape measure, vise grips, zip-ties etc.) to keep in my truck along with my craftsman mechanics set. I want good quality but I don't need something that is designed for service use every day.

Any Recommendations?

I've found the AWP tool bags sold at Lowes to be decent. I keep one with my box to be able to load with a bunch of tools to take to the top of a machine (I just clip it to the crane hook) and I keep one in my truck to hold an assortment of basic tools, plus I use another as a range bag to haul ammunition.

I have a couple of CLC bags. One of them is packed with 20 lbs of tools and stuffed under the rear seat of my truck. I liked it so much, I bought another 2 pc set when I found them cheap at HD for future use.

Harbor Freight. I bought a few for friends for Christmas- stocking stuffer type stuff - because they were practically giving them away, but I have to say they seemed very well made and nicely laid out. Several sizes and layouts are available.
Of course, only time will tell, and cheap goods sometimes are made well out of poor materials.

Check the army/navy surplus stores,,,found a genuine USGI "tanker" tool bag that I use,,,I would prefer an old school Klein bag but they are on the pricey side

The CLC, Husky, Craftsman, AWP ones are all very similar. I like some of the designs CLC offers more than the other two *shrug*

Ergodyne is really the 'step up' in fabric bags.

I've had an 18" Husky for about 10(?) years. I've used the snot out of it, packing it painfully overfull each time & hanging clamps/etc off the handles. It takes dirt, mud, and the wet like a champ. No damage!

Mines a sturdy bowling ball bag (single ball) it hauls a decent amount of tools. I use the 50 cent reusable shopping bags as well in a jiffy

I see odd electrical items and what not related to his beekeeping biz. Got the 35 yr old Sears air compressor and air tools, a 1951 Speedway speed drill, electronic cow prodder, etc.

I use a big backpack. We'll call it a bug out bag but...meh. You don't really need a tool backpack as long as your stuff is somewhat segmented.

If you can find a skateboard or possibly snowboard backpack cheap enough that would be the way to go. The benefit being you can mount tools with the board strap...to a degree.

I've got this set--the smaller bag sits in the truck box while the larger one holds my cordless saws. I also picked up a number of AWP bags on clearance last year when AWP HP replaced the base brand at Lowes. They've held up fine despite some mild abuse, and most of their replacements look almost identical with only some color swaps and an "HP" tacked on. Got an Dewalt bag with some driving bits that seems a bit light duty. It works fine for the Tough Cases full of bits and a few pounds of screws, though.

i've had no problem with my 13" craftsman bag other than it just being a basic bag with uselessly small exterior pockets and no interior pockets... i'd spend a bunch of time organizing the tools inside only to have to get one out later and wrecking any sense of organization

replaced it with a 16" stanley bag that is much more organized (plus it has a shoulder strap which is nice for carrying it around the junkyard
