I have a Quincy 230 pump, it's waiting for me to go through it. It's an oldie but a goodie. At 3hp it might be a little small for media blasting, you will have to wait for the compressor to recover. The motor is three phase, can you power it? With the dryer included that's still a nice setup.

You can easily replace it with a split phase 3hp 240V motor. You could even go up to a 4 or 5 hp motor (better for blasting), but you need to find the correct pulley so you don't over speed the pump.

A new motor might cost as much as the compressor, but you should be able to get most of it back selling your old 3 phase motor.

If that pump was well maintained (kept full of oil) it wil out live you !

Take a look @ the Northern Tools Branded 7.5hp compressor.

you'll have to folk out another 300-400 for quality 1750RPM 3-5HP motor.

take off the belt and rock the crank to see if there's knock.

If pump and dryer works well, $250 is a very good deal.

I would put the money to a quality new compressor over that unless you are comfy with three phase or the work to "cheaply" make the changes.

That's a better compressor than any compressor from Nothern tool or any big box store. I'd buy it and put a single phase motor on it, even if you spent $300. on a motor, it would still be a good deal and will probably out last you. Might even look into running if with a VFD, with the pressure switch controlling the VFD. Might be even easier. I bought the compressor shown out of a mill almost 30 years ago, switched it to a single phase motor, and never looked back. As you can see it's in a shed on the side of my shop, can't even hear it run.

When you phase convert, you're already losing couple hp. These day, it's not cost effective to do VFD on 1hp+ motor bc it will cost just as much as a baldor 3-5hp 1750rpm

Phase conversion via VFD involves no HP loss. and prices have come down significantly in recent years. I have them on 2 lathes, 1 of which is 7.5 HP, a bandsaw, and a drill press. Used to have one on a mill, but replacement mill has 3 motors, so not as doable.
