I am looking for a diesel compression tester and need some input. I was thinking of the Star Product one like this

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HI9DN0/?tag=atomicindus08-20

I only need some adapters and it don't look like any I need comes in this kit and I would have to buy them separate or just buy the Star gauge without all extras.

Or I can go with Snap On and buy one of the adapters I need. I need adapters for the VT365 like right now. But S/O don't carry a whole lot of adapters.

What compressors are you guys using? I really don't work on any thing over 10 years old and stay in the medium duty.

Also what adapter is good with the 7.8 Duramax/6HK1 (2006-2007)? I can't find any info on the net, only for the 6.6.

What testers have the same fittings on them so I can interchange them or are all compression testers have there own fittings that don't interchange?

i have the SO diesel compression guage, and 2 adapters for JD engines that i needed, also from SO.
they have a larger (1/4" pipe?) quick disconnect than most of the newer adapters i've seen lately.
the set we have at the shop is an OEM model, probably made by OTC, as well as the small adapters

a few minutes with some spare fittings and the smaller disconnect, and i had a homemade adapter to fit my SO guage hose

I have a similar question. I have an older Mac diesel compression tester, and need to find an adapter for 7.3L powerstroke.

Any idea what would fit, or how I could find out?

:beer:i would think any of the tool trucks would have an adapter available.

OTC would be another guess.

i dont have a need for any on road diesel adapters, i work on off road engines, and get whatever i've needed from our oem tool supplier
