Looking for a fuel valve replacement for a reznor eexl 140 E.

She is old but waaas working great. The fuel valve is a sx242esb. Looks just like the one pictured and labeled but no step to mine. Could this one pictured still work ...just don't wire the 1st stage. I only need the 10 .w.c. My old one has the correct pressures and a whole new pilot flame rod assembly, but there is not enough flame to activate the flame rod. The part number for the pilot assembly was correct for propane. I have 9 inch wc at the pilot circuit circuit. The pilot adjustment does nothing. If I take a torch to the flame rod the heater fires and runs. The pilot tube is new also and clear. Got to be the fuel valve correct? The old pilot assembly had the same small flame.

Looks similar to my ancient (1984) Modine. Are you sure there isnt something clogging up the pilot tube ? Spider nest ? Google the Gas Valve part number and see if you can find the instructions. I think on mine you can take the pilot adjusting screw out and clean it. If you do replace the gas valve i would stick with the correct number. I had to replace mine a couple of years a go and had no problem finding the correct one on Ebay.

Yeah this is like 1980! Can find all kinds for natural gas valves but not one propane single stage. This is the only propane one I found. Could be a different branded one, but that is hard to cross reference. There are fuel adjustment screws but this is probably more to changing it to propane then just that. Yeah no webs. The whole pilot, tube, flame rod is brand new. Put air through it too. The key is the old pilot flame and new pilot flame are the same. I also have the correct pressure going in to the fuel valve.

What is the part number of your original valve ? I know someone with a lot of old inventory. I can ask him.

Pilot looks fairly new. Check brand and model on the pilot assmembly check number to see if its for lp. Need a manometer to check gas pressure tag should be around 10" burner side of gas valve. 13" entering. Valve was made november of 1983. 41 years old. Check heat exchanger for cracks between each section top,bottom,front, back and over pilot and where the sections meet at the flat metal housings top and bottom.

Yeah checked all that....if someone knows a fuel valve that will work with this heater that would be great. Does 10 inches wc regulated on a fuel valve , like 10 to 14 in wc automatically mean it's for propane? 3.5 inches wc or around there for natural gas ?
