Looking for a Good Angle Grinder

Almost positive it is the German made unit, I was just in HD the other day and stopped and was surprised to see they had A) variable speed B) Made in Germany Bosch grinders for $130.

Look on the sticker near the paddle, it will say if its German.

Paddle switches are great, safer for sure. I personally dont like them, I hold the grinder at way to many angles to be comfortable with paddles.

Yeah but I’m younge, lazy and have no regard for my own safety. JK
Actually all my dads are paddle or trigger it wasn’t until recently I even knew they made a grinder with a switch anymore. With OSHA and all I thought they would be illegal or at least banned in the workplace

I almost bought that exact grinder you listed but I know the Bosch name. I’ve never owned a Hitachi tool. I’ll let you know what the COO is on the Bosch. Also dude if that is your hand I seriously feel bad for you paddles can seriously be a pain some times, the lock switch is just too convenient.

With Bosch, they click to the on position, but are spring loaded to the off position. You barely pull back on it and it spring loads to off. Very nicely done over in the engineering department.

Very impressed. The GWS-50vsp is in fact made in Germany. I’m just amazed at this when it’s the same price as a Mexican Dewalt or a Chinese Milwaukee.

Exactly, helps to do the homework and find a superior tool at similar cost. Support them for doing so is my motto.

I agree. I’ve had three for over 25 years. I’ve only had to replace a cord.

Have they changed COO on those over the years? If so, how do the new ones hold up to the older (Japanese) compare?

What kind of dust ?

I bought HF angle grinder for $10 last week for one specific purpose and that was to cut concrete block with a carbide diamond masonry blade. I didn't want to use one of my good grinders to live in all that dust like I have before. When it dies, I'll buy another.

Nutts, I've been doing my best to assassinate an old orange HF grinder for over ten years and I've failed... concrete pavers, thick rust removal, mill scale, wire brushes, cutting rebar in the dirt, sanding rough timbers. It sounds like it's full of gravel, heats up a bit after a while, but just keeps on going. It's like the Energizer bunny.

I also have 4.5" Bosch Slim , A 4.5" Dewalt, and an older 4.5"Porter Cable. (had a Fein, but it was way too too heavy for a 4.5" grinder- I like to be able to use them one-handed, so I gave it away.) I really like the slim handle and locking side switch on the Bosch, but it's horribly unbalanced when you try to set it down anywhere but on a flat table. The Dewalt has a bit more power, but it's too heavy for the negligible difference in performance. The awkward paddle switch trigger keeps me from using the Porter Cable most of the time-it's currently relegated to Klutch cutoff stand duty.

Actually the Makita 9005B was made in Canada for a number of years. The last 9005 I bought was assembled in USA in Buford, Georgia. Seems the same as the Canadian made ones
