Steinel's are great; I use them daily at work. I do a lot of solder sleeveing, some desoldering with the gun (makes a mess though) and will shrink the heck out of heat shrink.

For electronic work (ex: heat shrink tubing) this is the one to get:

For general purpose use get this one:

If you're on a budget get this one. It's actually pretty good. Just don't get the lower end model:

If cost is not a consideration then get this one (about $300):

My hf 2speed heat gun has been great. Just. Thought before you run out and spend 50. Mine cost 10.

I didn't choose my heat gun, the boss just bought it. It is a porter cable he likely bought it from lowes or home depot. It has two variable speeds and a wide adjustable heat range. I have used it for over two years day in and day out with no hiccups. It also is made so it can stand up on its back which comes in handy for myself. It is not grounded though. One more thing i see a lot of heat guns fail by the variable rheostat on for the temp, i just leave mine on full heat and don't touch it, so far so good.

One more vote for China Freight... not. Hope that Milwaukee works well for you, they seem to have a decent reputation
