I need a set of snap ring pliers and was wondering if there is a good USA made set that is a good bargan. I know snap-on, Matco or Mac have them but I have never cared to pay for a name. I would be fine with a lessor known brand if the quality is there.

I have the Craftsman 12 piece set. They are USA made. They've been great...

It's something we just started carrying. There's no extra markup.
I'm sure Craftsman just got a real good deal from Wilde.
If the craftsman are that much cheaper I'd go with them.
I'm sure the quality is the same.

I 2nd the Channel Locks. They are all in one for about 22 dollars at Home Depot. I bought a tool box collection and the Blue point set that came with it were the same ones.

I love my Craftsman snap ring pliers. I just have one internal one. I also have an external blue point snap ring pliers but the ends are grinded down so its kinda useless in a lot of situations.

I picked up the Imperial/Stride tools, Craftsman branded, cam lock ones a few years back (bargain alert here). I've used them a couple of times and like them. Now the cheapest way I have seen them is marked as KD tools, 3859.

I have used the Channel Locks as well as the Craftsman rebranded, Imperials (similar design). Both work well for non tight spots. But you do have to think of the tips as an expendable/replaceable item. (not often, but depends on use)

Then I have one Knipex of the older, less liked models. (44 series) They make me want to try the newer ones, but I don't do enough snap rings to justify them.

There is just nothing in the world better than the newer Knipex, part number needs to start with 48 or 49.
