I have a craftsman professional series bag opens up super wide, a good size pocket on both sides and one along the side. it has storage pockets along the inside walls too. Then i usually buy klein tools zippered canvas pouches to help keep things together. and i think it was around 49.99. Here is a link. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00948348000P?keyword=craftsman+tool+bag

Its pretty bomber tho.

I have probably tried 300 in tool bags, if I would have bought the Veto in the beginning I would have saved money. I LOVE mine, it is overpriced, someone needs to make a close copy and make sure the quality is still good, there is no reason the bag should be that much money.

Veto's are nice, but get very heavy when loaded down. I like some of the CLC bags, and Occidental leather makes my personal favorite.

my best bag is a MAC, hard side bag, with a metal handle, "hidden" storage compartment in the bottom. I also have a fanny pack type bag i sometimes use for going to the pick&pull junkyards, it has a couple of bottle holders built in for those long hot days.
biggest bag is a "no fear" (probably from lowes), i use to put grinders, drills, ect in if i go someplace to do some fab work.

I use and abuse the standard Matco nylon one with no problems, think it was about $50.

I can vouch for this BucketBoss tool bag, I schlep it to class once a week for the past year...still looks like new. Lots of space for all my machinist goodies.

I use the Veto LC at work and although it gets heavy when fully loaded, it allows me to keep my tools organized and at the ready. It is nice to see the tools arranged in pockets and the zippered sides keep debris out of the tool pockets and the tools from falling out when walking around. The plastic footprint keeps the tools from getting wet if you put it down on a wet ground. The padded shoulder strap is better than most of the tool bags that I have used.

When I bought my Veto, I was thinking that I was nuts for spending that much for a tool bag. But after four years of using of using it, I have no remorse of spending the money on this bag.

CLC makes a lot of different bags that may suit your needs. It depends what kind of tools you carry and your work area. Here is one example that is similar to the Veto.

I have a CLC that is similar to that one and it is an okay bag for my personal use. But comparing the build quality of the CLC to the Veto is like comparing a tool truck box to a Lista or Vidmar IMO.
