Looking for a good worklight ??

I am looking for a retractable cord reel work light,,,,prefer florescent bulb,,,don't see any on Harbor Freight,,,all the ones I see online are 60 or 70 bucks,,,too much for how often I will use it

To be most economical, get an old time one and put a compact fluorescent bulb in it.

Have you considered an astro pneumatic 40sl slim work light? Not a retractable cord reel light but led, really bright and magnetic.

I think Bayco makes a good one.. the alert stamping models on Amazon looks nice too. If you wanna do it on the cheap, just get a cheap retractable model and screw an LED bulb into it. Much better off with led than CFL


I think I'd go for this one, or the 450 lumen model... Or the Bayco beneath it. 450 lumens will still be plenty bright since it's all being sent in the same direction.

That said - you can get the cordless led Capri tools or Neiko light for like $35.. best bang for your buck. They get very high reviews on here. I have one and love it.

Gosh, I spent 75-80 bucks on a retractable fluorescent ten years ago.I guess Harbor Freight has brought the price level down on most everything.

I would agree but use an LED bulb instead. LED's should be more durable, just as bright and anymore about $1 each.

I bought the M12 lantern at Home Depot this weekend for $49 (last one they had). My power went out Sunday night during thunderstorm. My daughter was still at work, and my phone was just about dead. I pulled it out and used it for 3 hours around the house, AND was able to charge my phone on it. It charged up the phone very quickly. I really like it and was glad I bought it.

Consider the ryobi corded/battery led, unless you have a specific need for a Corded reel.
Reels and cords on lights are obsolete.

I agree and have 2 Craftsman C3 lights. They work great especially after I put in LED bulbs

If you think $37 is expensive (listing I posted) for a cordless led work light with rechargeable lithium batteries - I honestly cant help you then.. that's probably the cheapest good option you have - money wise, other than buying a $12 plastic corded drop light and then buying a screw in LED bulb for it..

I'm honestly not being sarcastic, it's just the reality we live in today.. any cordless tool platform light people are suggesting will require a battery and charger too if you're not already invested in a cordless platform. If not, the battery alone will likely cost almost what that neiko sells for. Plus the Amazon listings have that same lights with free shipping $5 cheaper than that ebay listing..

Edit - this is the cheapest thing I could find that's what your asking for. It's a 20 foot retractable trouble light, all plastic, no bulb, with one review online stating it shorted out with the second use - for $27.. add a $3 bulb and your $7 away from a pretty good cordless model that I personally own, and can say it's well worth the money..

2nd edit - if you wanna read what other people have to say about that light I suggested, read the reviews from Amazon on the Capri Tools model.. it's the same light, just different name.
There's 111 reviews posted, and it's rated at 4.5 stars.. I paid $46 for mine (just found my original post from 2 years ago)

I'm partial to removable replaceable rechargeable myself but If your not going to use it often AAA batteries might get the job done too.


Doing a quick search I didn't see they have retractable cord reel with light though they have outlet style retractable reels, and dual bulb fluorescent corded drop light so might be worth looking thru the listings there.

Ok Kctypoon the cordless one you listed is 350 lums...thats only like a 40 watt bulb light , correct ??? Doesn't seem like much light when you are under a car
