I am searching for a large metric tap set that has a minimum of 14mm and has to go up to atleast 24mm. My work used to provide them for me but do to loss or stealing they will no longer do so. Two of my co workers bought Mac sets and our tired of the rest of us borrowing them. I’ve thought about buying individual as there are only pry 5 of them I actually use. I have the snap on master set so I’m good up to 12mm.

These are the sizes I use
M22 corse
M24x3corse
M16 corse
M20x2.5
M20x1.5
I will not spend the money on snap on but have looked at a Tekton set 7561 on amazon. It looks like an absolute bargain.
We also have an industrial supplier that stops at my work from time to time that sells Norseman brand but I have no experience with them.

Irwin-Hanson makes what you want. Download the catalog and check it out. Same thing as Snap On and other trucks just you won’t have warranty (but from past experience with breaking taps the warranty becomes the last thing you care about)

Norseman will be top notch quality. If using for work I'd buy a high quality USA made brand.

MSC and/or McMaster Carr is where I would buy my taps from, you can get individual taps or the set of 3 per size desired (plug, taper, bottoming). I would also look at buy TiN coated.

Big taps cost big money, so a set with just one extra tap you didn’t need would probably be an unwarranted cost.

Personally, I think you are on the right lines buying individual taps.

There’s no point buying Snap On. By all means buy hand tools from a hand tool maker, but you will get a better tap for less money by buying from a tap and die manufacturer.

I won’t recommend one, as I’m in the U.K. and our makers are probably different, but I will recommend MSC. Get their paper catalogue and it’s easy to flip through and choose what you need. If in doubt, ring their “tech team” and ask advice. I’ve found them very good.

I've had good luck buying individual taps from Gyros. Also made in the USA from what I understand.
