Looking for a new air compressor

I currently have a small 3 gallon compressor in my shop, it's about 10 to 12 years old and is starting to show signs of it's age.

I'm wanting to replace it with a portable in about a 30 gallon size. I don't use air tools other than nailers and it's used to inflate tires, pool floats and blow gun work when cleaning. I need a portable because it will be loaded on the trailer and taken for use at other places.

I want to buy a good one without breaking the bank. Just looking for some recommendations.

Not to hi-jack your thread, but I'm in the same boat. My 25 year old Craftsman oil-free just made evil grinding sounds and quit.

You might not need a 30 gallon tank if that's all you're using it for (nailing, inflating). A 6 gallon pancake model might be all you require - couple of good ones are Bostitch and Porter-Cable (note: I said 'good' not 'great'). Most of them are under 50 pounds and are very portable - a 30 gallon compressor, while portable, usually weighs a few hundred at least.

I looked at the Porter Cable and Bostitch on Lowes website, the Porter Cable has good reviews and is marked down right now.
