Looking for a new closed tool bag

First off, I know there are a bunch of tool bag threads, most of which seem to be open style tool bags. I am looking to replace my current car go bag. I don't want to keep any tools on the exterior and plan on keeping it closed when its in my car. I will be holding screw drivers, pliers, wrenches, and other general automotive tools. I am looking in the 14-18in size range and would prefer some internal side pockets to hold tools

It looks like husky and craftsman have a couple options but I am looking for any others.

I saw this CLC bag that looked interesting but I am not sure that it has internal pockets.

A bit pricy for what it is ... IMHO

... but its been adequate for a car bag since I bought it.

I didnt want external pockets and holders either.

The other side has a different pocket layout. Sorta ideal for spanner/wrench storage.

... and theres plenty of room in the bottoms, for socket rails/whatever.

For a go bag I'd check out the AWP stuff at Lowe's. I have a massive prejudice against Lowe's and especially their house brands but I've always liked the AWP bags and pouches. I think they may even be made by CLC, possibly just the HP (high performance) line. At least buying in store you can get your fingers on it and get a really good feel for if it'll work out for you.

Have you thought about a back pack? I used have to fly with tools and used a craftsman tool back pack. It is pretty rugged and has extra pockets on the side and places inside for bulky stuff. I think I paid $40. It's identical to the AWP version sold at Lowe's. Closes up completely and no tools on the outside.

Harbor Freight carries a wide assortment of good quality tool bags of various sizes. I have some I've been using for years and they've held up very well. I've never had one tear and I've never had a zipper break. I probably have a dozen or more in use right now.

Hell, Veto is top notch. I have the Tech XL and I can still just sit there and look at it sometimes. I wouldn't consider Veto for a car bag though. OP seems to be thinking in the $25-$50 price range.

Yea, as much as I would love a Veto, they are above my price cap. I just don't use or abuse my bags enough to warrant the entry fee.

I have this bag for some of my work tools and like it a lot, it holds a lot, and do not use any of the out sided pouches, it is my main tool bag's side kick. Short list of what I carry in it: small Plano cases full of fasteners, hacksaw, drywall saw, hole saw kit, emt reamer, pipe cutter, 50' fishtape, specialty screw drivers, Bits, can of silicon spray, Milwaukee Fuel cordless drill, and more that I can not think of off hand.

There are two sizes 16" and 20"

I just received a little socket set from Ebay that included a Klein zip-up bag.
Kind of small, but very well made. No idea if they make anything suitable for your purpose.

As a millwright, I am by trade to usually carry most the tools for a quick fix if need be. They want me to have tool boxes, but I been running a 64 pocket Kunys bag from Home Depot and a 3/8;1/2" socket set in plastic case.

I usually slide the socket set under the passenger seat and tool bag in the trunk.

Been running job to job like this for 5 years, ain't gonna change now!

I likey this one! For some places I go, (Govt. buildings...)their security will look thru toolboxes and go bananas over any tool that could be used as a weapon (Keyhole saws and Phillips-head screwdrivers, for example). For those places, I've been using a laptop bag. NEVER gets checked, but hard to organize.

I love military tool bags. Work great, tough and I have a dozen or so. They do have small pockets but your are not organising wrenches in them.
