Was going to get the Bosch 4100 series until I saw it was made in China.

Anyone can recommend me a good quality, US or EU/Japan made table saw for under $800?

thanks

I have the Rigid contractor saw from HD with the mobile base. It has a good fence stock so you don't have to upgrade. Built probably 20 cabinets & bookcases with it. The only thing I would suggest is get a dust collection system

Are you looking for a jobsite saw like the Bosch 4000 series or something stationary or ?

The Bosch has been the jobsite saw by which all others are measured for quite some time. Last time I checked, it was made in Taiwan, but since Bosch and everyone else has been shifting things to China, I guess I am not surprised that it is made there now. Even their worm drive saws are made there now.

great saw. When I was shopping it was either this or the Bosch, after looking at it in the store I went with the Ridgid. The table is a little larger and the fence seems more sturdy. It's really easy to adjust and locks down straight. The stand is not as easy to use as the Bosch, but it's very sturdy. One problem I heard about the Bosch is the the table is not flat. For the price I think the Ridgid is a much smarter buy, the Bosch is too expensive for what it is. Hold off for a little while, usually they go on sale at Thanksgiving.

I picked up the Ridgid TS2400LS last Black Friday, it was on sale for 299 (normally 449!!!)

The only difference with the new version (TS2410LS) is the stand is slightly different. Not necessarily better or worse, just different.

Id hold off until BF and see if HD puts it on sale again. Its a very nice saw for the price. The fence is excellent, I compared it to the Bosch at Lowes and the fence is what pushed me toward the Ridgid. Its so smooth and it makes the whole saw feel more substantial (I HATE fences that "wiggle" while you are sliding them......and I have no room/money for a cabinet saw so I had to find a good fence on a contractor saw)

I have the Bosch 4100-09. Its a kick *** saw. I bought it when I was remodeling my last house. There isn't a thing wrong with it and it got great reviews. I did a litte research before buying it.

I could go on all day with that kind of price range. Grizzly, Jet, Delta, get one with a Beismeier fence.

I've actually had both the Ridgid and the Bosch.

Both are excellent tools for jobsite saws, though, obviously, neither is a cabinet saw. Both are very accurate & very easy to use.

I read all the reviews and the Bosch is the consensus favourite, but I think it is marginal. I bought the Ridgid because it was simply too good a deal to pass up on sale. That saw was stolen from a jobsite, and the client actually bought me the Bosch as a replacement.

There were actually small things I preferred on both saws, but I can't remember what they were now apart from pneumatic tires on the Bosch and on-board storage for the blade-guard on the Ridgid. (I hate the things anyway as I feel they are unsafe!)

Those two brands were essentially the only choices for a saw on a collapsible wheeled stand at the time, but I've noticed new models from at least DeWalt & Makita since...

Although the Bosch may be marginally better, the Ridgid is a better value on sale.

I was reading some recent reviews of the Craftsman Professional Table saw w/Biesemeyer fence. It was linked via one of the threads here on the Craftsman Club. Some problems with assembly, but most were satisfied.

My grandfather's shop has one of the last years of the Craftsman Made in USA table saws. I'm going by to check out a couple my uncle has sitting around. Perhaps by one from him. I can't afford to spend an arm and a leg, but having my own table saw at hom sounds really appealing.

When I bought a table saw two years ago, it came down to a decision between the Bosch and the Ridgid. I went in leaning toward the Bosch, but looking at both of them side by side, the Ridgid won out. They were very close in features and the Ridgid was ~$150 cheaper.

I've had the Ridgid for two years now and couldn't be happier. It's very sturdy, and the fence is great. I would recommend it.

Someone above said to get a dust collection set up for the Ridgid - I agree. However, if you have a Ridgid shop vac, that will work just fine, it just won't start automatically with the saw.
