I am trying to restore a BASA hammer but it is missing its jam nut. The size is 1 1/2" with 16 tpi. I have searched on line everywhere but have tapped out. Mr Google is not my friend here. Does anyone have a lead on such a unicorn of a nut?

No. But maybe someone close has a lathe. Shouldn't be too hard to fabricate.

I would contact these folks to see if they can fulfill your nut need:

Thanks for your suggestions. I am still working Mr Google. I have discovered that it is European (UN). It is the Unified Thread Extra Fine (16tpi) and may be 38mm instead of 1 1/2".

This seemed like an easy fix but a donor tool may be the only way out. :dunno:

I remember reading somewhere that Cessna used a 1-1/2-16 nut on some of their wheel assemblies. Might be worth looking into or it might be just another rabbit hole. Good luck.

I just pulled up a metric fine thread chart and it went from 36 to 39mm, no 38mm. The 16 tpi pitch would be close to 1.6 mm. There is a M39-1.5. Maybe my chart from Maryland metrics is incomplete.
