Like the title says I am in the market for a good little light for my shirt pocket. I have a ton of those free hf lights and was satisfied with the performance but didn’t like the shape so I got a streamlight stylus pro off the snap on truck. I really like the shape and how it stays put when you lean over but it’s not the brightest and I went through a few that just stopped working with a few months. I have tried a few of the cheapies from ebay & amazon with mixed results. I have a bigger coast light that I love. It’s durable, bright and has pretty good battery life. I am thinking about the g20 but wondering if anyone knows how it compares with the streamlight. I really like that it’s available locally and if I don’t like it I’m only out $10. Anything else I should be looking at?

Look at the Milwaukee penlight. I have one as part of my EDC and love it. I have put it through the washing machine by accident and it survived!

This is a very useful light. If fits in most check valve holes.

I just saw a video about that and it’s definitely in the running. It looks like it has a decently wide beam which is a concern I have about the g20. It looks like it’s really focused.

I have the Milwaukee pen light sand the coast g20, same use as you. They're both great, the g20 died after about a year I'm using the Milwaukee now, so far so good. I think the Milwaukee is a little brighter

Go to the Battery Junction web site. I think they have the flashlight market covered. They carry many brands and all kinds of pocket lights. I am always getting sale notice emails. They were also very helpful when I had a question. Hopefully, they can hook you up with something more reliable.

The G20 beam is pretty focused but also very clear and artifact free, it's a nice clean spot. I love mine as a machinist because I need to see very specific details and it's not so bright that I get blinded looking at cuts.

My first one was bought on Amazon and I only replaced it after I had to cover in the paint department and the over spray fuzzed up the lense. My latest was from Home Depot and just seems brighter and more rugged, so maybe the first wasn't authentic. I'm not sure.

But I think my edc flashlight will be a G20 for the foreseeable future

I love my EZ-Red slim light. It is a little bigger than a traditional pen light but fits in my shirt pocket fine. USB rechargeable with a good battery life. Has both a pen light mode and a decent flood light. Favorite part is i can clip it onto the outside of my shirt and have a nice hands free flood light. The clip is magnetic so it can hang off the side of something as well.

After reading and watching some reviews I ordered the coast hp3. It’s something like 72 lumens which is plenty for my needs and beam adjustment. I appreciate all the links. They helped me get a general idea what’s out there. I don’t know why I didn’t go for the Milwaukee. I love their stuff but maybe it was the snowball thing... if I’m already going up to $20 I can get the adjustable beam for another 5. I guess that’s not as bad as the last one where I went from boxes in the $800 range to a $1700 mac.

Streamlight stylus pro. I put that light through it's paces working in a garage and it's held up, even been through the wash! Brake cleaner, transmission fluid, dropped in engine bays. Always in the pocket. The finish wears a bit if you really get abrasive on it and slide it in and out of your pocket but it's never failed me and it's bright enough for anything i've ran into.

The streamlight can't be beat. Same size as a pen so it's easy to stash, super durable, takes batteries that are easy to find, plenty bright.

another vote for the Streamlight Stylus Pro, I have a few I keep around and always have one in my pocket. Bright, small, cheap(around or under $20), rugged, takes regular batteries, hard to beat!

That's the one FarleyFan, we do a lot of ID and OD chrome repairs and inspecting a deep, blind, freshly honed chrome bore this thing really saves my eyes. Or because I run manual machines if I'm watching my boring head through a cross bore or an interrupt, the strobe reflection won't make me epileptic lol.

And for $10 you can't beat it!

I asked this question about a year ago in this thread and got great results.

Been using the hp3 for a couple days now and it’s just what I was looking for. There are high and low beams. Quick click for low hold it a second for high. It’s plenty bright even when it’s adjusted all the way wide. I can’t speak for durability but it has a lifetime warranty and my bigger coast light has held up very well.

Streamlight for me too. Plenty of light with simple push button on/off & no stupid strobe.
