I have a carpet kit in the bed of my truck (with a cap), black fabric interior, and a white dog. I have been looking like mad but can't find a powered brush attachment for my shop vac (Ridgid with a 1.875" hose) but cannot find ANYTHING short of the ones meant to attach to a hosehold vac with a 1.25" hose.

What do you guys use for cleaning upholstry and carpet in your vehicles? Have you seen the elusive powered brush? I don't care if it's powered by vacuum from the head unit or externally powered.

Bissell has a turbo brush for their vacs. I'm not sure of the hose size but from the pictures it looks like it requires a reducing adapter to fit a 1 1/4" hose.

There is a wide range of vacuum adapters available, so if you see one you like google for an adapter to mate it to your hose.

Bissell has a customer service line if you need information.

x2, my Bissell Garage Pro came with a smaller beater bar style attachment. I haven't tried it yet on anything that needed cleaning.

I don't know about a powered brush head, but, I had a similar problem a few years ago. I wanted to attach the smaller attachments found on a home vacuum to my shopvac hose to reach into some smaller areas.

There is a vacuum repair shop in a farmers market near me. I stopped in and explained what I wanted to do.
Like 40cpe said above, he sold me a plastic adapter for a few bucks that works perfect.

If you don't get ant good answers here maybe look if there is a vacuum repair shop in your area.

I use a stepped reducer fitting on my Shop Vac with a plain brush attachment and it works great. I hadn't thought of using it with a household vac attachment, but I bet it works fine. I use a Dyson Animal inside, and it has a handheld powered brush attachment that does a great job. You can buy them separately for ~$50 IIRC.

thanks for the endorsements...I ordered a Bissell unit from Ebay and will try the reducer with it....there's a glaring vacuum (pun...he he) of powered heads in the car detailing product world for something like this.
