These are generally known as Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR). The 3M Versaflo shown above would be great if it wasn't $1300 (or approx. $600 on eBay).

I used a cheap/basic version a while back. It just had a small fan & filter built into a face shield with a minimal skirt around your jaw & cheeks. It was very nice to breathe easy & not sweat as much while sanding vs. the basic respirators (shown below) used by painters.

Anyone seen or used one that they like? I would be happy if I found something that worked well for $1-200.

The one you have pictured at the bottom of your post above is the one I use.

There is nothing wrong with that mask as long as you monitor the filter exposure.

The air flow mask is made for the painter that spends most of his day every day in the booth spraying paint, definately overkill for a hobbyist on the weekend useage or even a guy like me in the booth for an hour now and then each week.

I have been looking for something to use when in doing wood projects. Would need to adapt my oxygen to it.
