For small tasks I have a California Air tools comp that I love. It is truly pleasant to be around and doesn't disturb my condo neighbors.

I'm now looking for a larger higher output approx 30 gal belt driven compressor. I have 220v available and don't mind spending ~$5-800 on a nice one but noise is a big concern.

I found this - http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200339041_200339041

Wondering if anyone has other recommendations?

Thanks

I've heard great things about the vertical 26 gallon compressor rebranded by Chicago Pneumatic (RCP-226VP), BelAire (5026VP) and Napa (NAC 824253PAT). There might be a Quincy version as well.

I believe they have slightly more CFM than the horizontal one you linked to but I'd double check that and the decibel ratings.

Thanks. I want this compressor to do some light blasting in a small Eastwoods cabinet. I understand that a much larger compressor would be better suited but this is what will fit, and I may add a tank down the line. Having done blasting before my instinct is that duty cycle is important and the I-R which I posted which is 5.7CFM@90 but 100% duty might be a better choice than the Chicago one Voi posted which is 7CFM@90 but 50% duty cycle?

I have an older horizontal that's quite as a mouse don't know the brand but it's very quite about like a new car I love it.
Paid $28 plus a $4 paint job now it looks great painted bluepoint blue to match my jack.

It's a bit more than you want to spend but you might consider this 5HP Puma compressor: https://www.aircompressorsdirect.com/Puma-TE-5040V-Air-Compressor/p13941.html

I just finished installing it and I'm very happy with it so far (limited use). Doesn't leak, is very quiet compared to the screamin' banshee oiless compressor it replaced, and is very quick to fill the tank from empty.

They have a 3HP version as well that is closer to your price range: https://www.aircompressorsdirect.com/Puma-TE-3040V-Air-Compressor/p13940.html

Good luck,

If you're sandblasting I hate to say it but you're going to need a hell of a lot more air than you think you do. I have a 5HP 80 gallon Quincy and it's can't handle sandblasting and it puts out 17SCFM.

There is only one rule with air compressors huge is good, humongous is better and a three phase 20 HP rotary screw is just about perfect. Sad, but true.
