I wouldn’t look for a tool branded cooler to be much above average.

The good news is the Stanley Cooler isn’t from the killer of good tool brands.

hate to suggest walmart but they have several of those softside yeti knockoffs in the mid 30's and up depending on size. i have on i picked up at sam's for about 40 bucks. i think it holds 16 or so cans plus ice. like any cooler, the more you open them the less time they keep things cool.

the trick to any cooler. pre chill it, fill it, keep it full and don't open it. obviously the larger mass of cold items it has the longer it stays cold.

I’ve got a small Yeti and while I think they are more hype than product mine will stay cold for a couple of days on a couple bags of ice. After day one it will be more cold water than ice but cold water will keep drinks cold.

I have an Rtic soft pack 20 cooler, a Yeti Hopper 20 (softside) and Yeti Tundra 65
hard cooler. IMHO, since I haven't done any experimental comparisons, is that it comes down to quality of manufacture. In comparison, my Yeti Hopper zipper is much heavier duty than the Rtic. The pull on the Rtic broke this year, but wasn't really an issue to get another pull. These zippers are waterproof, so you have to keep them lubed for them to work well. The quality of the materials between the 2 are close, but the Yeti gets the nod. As far as cooling goes, I've had both filled with cans and ice, at the beach for 6-8 hours in the sun with ice and some water left, and back at the beach house filled with ice for longer than 24 hours. The price difference would lead me back to the Rtic ($80) over the Yeti Hopper ($300) if $$ is the prime factor. The Yeti Tundra has been fantastic if you're looking for (smaller) hard side cooler. I'm sure the comparative roto-milled coolers work generally as well, but I've had mine (pre-cooled) packed with ice, meat and other spoilables going on vacation, in the trunk of my black car for 2 1/2 days and very little (3"?) water at the bottom of the cooler and balance still ice. That all being said and long winded...…….I'll never recover the costs of these coolers thru my lower ice costs over a cheaper cooler, so keep that in mind. These (hard coolers) are really meant for those who USE them as the only source of refrigeration in the outdoors. Good Luck!

Coleman extreme is OK for one day (I had the 16 quart). For two days I like the Canyon Coolers 22 quart. I had the 75 quart Canyon (excellent performance) and still have the 22 quart for personal use. Blue Coolers is great also, less expensive than Canyon but not sure if they have a personal-size cooler or not.

Yeti's new Roadie 24 is great. I can fill mine with ice 2 times a week and always have ice floating even when it was in the 90s every day. I do add drinks from the fridge.

I am a big fan of the igloo marine coolers. Performs as well as the Yeti's at a fraction of the cost. RTIC makes quality products too.

I have a 20 quart hardside pelican that is real nice.

It's a little bigger than those small softside ones, but it does real well on cooling.

Checkout Bison Coolers. USA made. I have a soft side and 50 quart that I'm happy with.

I have an RTIC 45 hard cooler and a 20 soft. The hard cooler recently held ice for 4 days for me (mostly water at the end, but still at freezing temps) while being opened frequently. The 20 will hold ice for a full day in the sun at the beach. Both have their uses and I recommend both of them. The soft cooler is a bit heavy for what it is but works great, and the strap makes transporting it easy. The zipper pull broke before we lubed the zipper (should have done it sooner, waited about 2 years, our fault) but they provide the solution to that.
