The patent is assigned to Techtronic Industries.

It looks like the knife or an earlier version was sold as the Nack Pro Utility Knife, as well as the Tim Allen Signature Tools Utility Knife.

Thanks Neophyte - looks like this tool is part of history. I guess I'll need to go back to a standard type utility knife

This thread reminded me I have one of these (original in belt sheath) in my junk drawer, so I started looking on eBay and found this:
It seems that some blade cartridges are still out there, but the handles are going for good money now.

One of the pictures in that ebay listing shows that the Nack was once sold as a Fein product too.

There are other utility knives with blade cartridges available nowadays, but the blade cartridges work differently.

Toughbuilt seems to be the most common one recommended nowadays (no actual experience with the Toughbuilt system though).

There are also magazine fed Japanese/Asian style utility knives, that use the snap-off blades.

This might be one of the models.

My brother gave me one of those branded as a Craftsman. I was curious if the blades were discontinued and stopped using it. When I get home I'll have to search for it.

Neophyte - thanks for that link for toughbuilt - that looks like a reasonable alternative.. I may order one of those. It appears it takes a fairly standard blade.
