Not garage related today. I am looking for a wood utility shed to be installed on my property.

In the past I have used shed liquidators after paying a fair amount more for a similar one at Lowes. The folks came by and were friendly, got the job done, and then left. I have their shed for 12 years now and no issues.

Now they don't even do work in my area anymore.

Any recommendations for a national chain that handles this stuff? Not a big fan of the local stuff here in Virginia. Overpriced and underserviced.

Thanks.

I've got one by Graceland Portable Buildings I'm super happy with. Almost pulled the trigger on one from Premier Portable Buildings, as well as Weather king, but the Graceland building got my money.

I am the DIY type but not my cup of tea...would rather be inside drinking my tea. :D

From my observations, the price to DIY is around the same price to have someone do it for you.

Last time I built a set of plastic sheds we were outside for 2 days in subfreezing temperatures. Even though bundled up, I ended up getting sick and had to go to the ER. It was pretty much a case of me paying to build my own sheds, lol. Further to this, I didn't secure them to the ground and about 6 years later a microburst came and took them both out while I was in the process of selling that home! :(

Thanks for the idea though.

I can tell ya whatever ya do, DON'T buy one from lowe's/hd and build it yourself, even though the price point seems attractive. The materials are garbage and of poor quality. I believe the manufacturer of mine was heartland or something like that, spend the extra money and buy a good one!

The big box store sheds are so over price, IMHO.........$3k to $5k

I see that most also use 2x3s

I build mine for $1500, which is a 10 x 12 with a gambrel roof, front and rear lofts........close to 14 feet tall?

See if this company has dealers by you. I have a Hardi-Board siding, steel roof, steel frame, housewrapped stand-alone building, and I added a 100 amp electrical service after delivery, I set it on a slab, and the slab is the floor. OH door at one gable end, and two windows on opposite sides, for flow-through ventilation, vents at each gable end, too, and a 36" w impact door I installed myself in a framed-out opening I spec'ed. The building meets the Miami-Dade County Florida requirements for windstorms-resistance. I got a 10 ft x 20 ft, which was the largest the zoning code allowed.

I just had the home tented, and it was +$100 for the shed to be fumigated too, cheap insurance.
